This time I found an on the road shot from the archives. If you are visiting Jotunheimen, and particularly Galdhøpiggen, Lom is a place you'll probably have to pass through. If so, make sure to visit the local bakery, they are amazing.

The church is a triple nave stave church that uses free standing inner columns to support a raised section in the ceiling of the main nave. This type of church is amongst the oldest Stave Churches. The church was first situated in a sub valley to the valley Gudbrandsdal in Oppland County, some 60 kilometers (37 mi) west of Otta.[2]

The church dates to approximately second part of 12th century. It was rebuilt into a cruciform church during the 17th century, which gave it the appearance it has retained since. The chancel was decorated in 1608, and the nave was enlarged towards west in 1634. The cross section was added in 1663, but this was made in stave like frame work. Master builder Werner Olsen (ca. 1600-1682) was engaged for the remodel and extension. He was active in Gudbrandsdal and had previously worked on Vågå church (1626-28) and Ringebu stave church (1630).[3]

A complete restoration also took place in 1933. An archaeological excavation was conducted in 1973 in connection with the repair of the floors. The excavations uncovered artifacts including more than 2,000 coins. At that same time, a renovation began to improve thermal insulation.

This stave church is actually one of just a very few stave churches of which the original medieval crest with a dragon head still survives.

Also, I'll probably be retaking some of the pictures with figures, as they came out blurry for some reason... :/

Around 12:45pm, our Scandinavian adventure moved on from Lom and we headed south to Songdal.

Our drive was via the Scenic Sognefjellet (Rte 55).

The Norwegian Scenic Route (Sognefjellet) is northern Europe's highest mountain pass, and runs from Lom to Gaupne, a distance of 108 km, and finishes it's course at the Ponte Loftesnes Bridge in Songal for a total drive of 136km (85 miles - a 2 1/2hr ride.)

This mountain pass in Northern Europe known as the "roof of Norway", and meanders through the dramatic Norwegian countryside. Pass glaciers, pine forests and perhaps moose, as well as Galdhøpiggen, Norway's highest mountain in Jotunheimen National Park.

We arrived late afternoon (around 5:00 PM for our stay overnight in the heart of the fjords at the Quality Hotel Songdal.

I thought it was time I built a medieval house.

Built for the Lands of Mythron RPG over on MOCpages.

For the Lands of Mythron

It was built around year 1160 and many of the details and carvings are original/authentic, but there have of course been additions and alterations over the centuries. Dragons were the main theme for the carvings, roof decorations etc..

Lom in Oppland county, Norway.

The sun glared down on the waters of Worsan Harbor, the sky blue and the air clear and humid. . . .

Darvainian gathered many of the Nerogueian leaders to meet in Zorthan, the capital of Nerogue, to discuss a letter that he received from Mythron about an alliance...

No effects on this picture, Just pure sunlight. I think it turned out quite nicely.

Oh, and hooray for the new Flickr layout! :D

Da build. Thank's to Drew for letting me use his dark orange collection!

Tried a new Tree technique, on the left. I believe the hanging foliage is semi new, correct me, anyone, if it has been used before.

4-LOM, a reprogrammed protocol droid, one of the great bounty hunters during the times of the Galactic Civil War. As seen in

Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back.

This figure is completely sculpted and painted by me,

and I created 4-LOM's DLT-19 with a combination of

painting and cutting and sculpting existing LEGO parts

to fit together, creating his weapon as it looks in the movie.
