Liverpool is a hive of activity at the moment as it gets ready for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. You’d never know it from 380ft in the air though.

WELCOME TO LIVERPOOL WATERFRONT

Liverpool Waterfront is a great place to visit with a whole host of things to do in a breathtaking and iconic setting. Diverse in its appeal the waterfront offers everything from a sing-along in the Beatles Story to a quiet riverside stroll.

Where else could you marvel at truly magnificent mercantile architecture like the famous Liver Building; enjoy world-class contemporary art at Tate Liverpool; explore the Merseyside Maritime Museum and become interactive at the recently opened Museum of Liverpool - all within a stone's throw of one another.

But this would not be a waterfront without the River Mersey, the network of historic docks and the canal link which allows evocative narrow boats to moor right in the heart of Liverpool.

A quote taken from the Tate Liverpool website.

"Liverpool Mountain is Swiss-artist Ugo Rondinone’s first public artwork in the UK and the first of its kind in Europe. Inspired by naturally occurring Hoodoos (spires or pyramids of rock) and the art of meditative rock balancing, this 10-metre high sculpture stands within Mermaid Courtyard, outside Tate Liverpool on the Royal Albert Dock Liverpool. It consists of coloured rocks, stacked vertically which seem to defy gravity."

A shot of the Liverpool waterfront taken from Port Sunlight River Park with a telephoto lens. This is a shot I've tried - and possibly posted - several times, but the the light and background clouds today I think takes the image up a notch.

Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, officially known as the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King, is the seat of the Archbishop of Liverpool. The Grade II* Metropolitan Cathedral is one of Liverpool's many listed buildings and to distinguish it from the Anglican Liverpool Cathedral, locals call it the "Catholic Cathedral".

The cathedral's architect, Frederick Gibberd, was the winner of a worldwide design competition. Construction began in 1962 and was completed in 1967. Earlier designs for a cathedral were proposed in 1933 and 1953, but none were completed.

The interior is simply awesome, and if you're ever planning a visit to Liverpool it really is a must see.

The first sunset in a while that hasn't turned blue on me at the last minute. Hopefully a few more to come this summer
