David Jones AW13 Fashion Launch: Sydney, Australia - 6th February 2013...
A good dose of Australia's social set gathered to watch top line models including Miranda Kerr and Megan Gale strut at David Jones' Elizabeth Street store from around 7pm this evening.
Thirty-seven designers including Alex Perry, Collette Dinnigan and Zimmerman showcased over 230 looks alongside DJs runway debutants, Ellery, Rachel Gilbert and Banjo and Matilda.
Dual tone colours and prints featured heavily throughout the evening while lace and leather made a big comeback.
The 175-year-old retailer has reluctantly embraced new technologies to lift struggling sales and this year's event was livestreamed (via the internet) for the benefit of those who missed out on one of the show's exclusive tickets.
David Jones' group executive of merchandise Donna Player said those who couldn't attend could keep track of what was happening on social media.
"Customer viewing parties are a first and there will be stylists there as well. They can watch the livestream from Sydney, drink champagne and participate in the whole event even though they aren't physically here," she told Murdoch owned The Telegraph.
"It's bringing social media back to that whole tactile experience because they are able to buy the clothes straight away, the majority of those looks are in store immediately."
Well done to everyone involved in the success of the event. Now to wait and see if it makes a difference to the bottom line of the high end retailer.

The Coronavirus pandemic ushered in a time of isolation and quarantine, but it allowed the unique opportunity for the Canons Regular to take advantage of livestream technology to broadcast our Divine Services heretofore unknown to many people around the world.
Undeterred by quarantine restrictions, a number of Canons made creative use of the latest camera technology and video-editing software to show forth the Sacred Liturgy online. In this manner, many Catholics, Christians, and even the religiously unaffiliated were able to partake in watching the livestreaming in various locations around the globe. The result has been nothing short of remarkable.
In this photo album, viewers will be able to get a behind the scenes glimpse at all the careful effort that is undertaken to broadcast the Sacred Liturgy to the world.
Due to covid we couldn't do a regular book launch for Imagining Mission so Cathy and I took to zoom and livestreamed to youtube which was a first for me (and nerve wracking as to whether it would all work). But it was a lot of fun and meant we were joined by people from the Isle of Man, Netherlands, USA, Scotland, New Zealand which wouldn't have happened in person.

A unique drive–in carol concert, Carols by Runway Lights, is being held at St. Angelo Airport, Enniskillen, on Friday 18th December at 7pm, under the illuminated backdrop of the runway lights on one side and Trory Parish Church on the other side.
Soloists Jane McKinley (Soprano), who sings in St Macartin’s Cathedral, Enniskillen, and the Revd Mark Gallagher (tenor), rector of Trory Parish Church, will lead in a selection of favourite carols and Christmas pieces, interspersed with bible readings and poems.
Mr Gallagher has pointed out this is a carol concert, not a carol service. The sound will be transmitted through everyone’s car radio.
There are no tickets for this event, and parking spaces will be allocated on a first come basis. As there is no charge for entrance, there will be collection buckets as cars leave the airport.
Traditional carol services have to be curtailed this year due to the restricted numbers able to attend churches due to the Coronavirus Covid–19 pandemic.
However, many Church of Ireland parishes are adapting to the new situation by livestreaming services from their churches or uploading a recording of the service to social media to widen the audience.

This weekend's activities revolved around the Sudarshana Chakra, Lord Narayanaya's famed spiritual weapon. Known for its protection of the surrendered devotees and its destruction of all negative forces, it was a timely focus for these days of Covid-19 and the fear that seems so prevalent in the world today.
Saturday started with Guru puja, followed by Kalash puja, and then the Sudarshana Yajna began. For this event, not only the main yajna kund was used, but eight individual kunds were placed around the Sudarshana murti located in front of the main temple. Simultaneously, 50 individually-sponsored yajnas were performed on the back lawn by Residents of The Ashram. After the yajnas, Gurudev also performed an abhishekam ceremony on the large murti.
The entire event was livestreamed and commented on by Rishis and Swamis who gave insights into the significance of the Sudarshana Chakra and told personal stories. On Sunday morning, Gurudev joined the prayers to sing a variety of beautiful bhajans, too.

“As photographers for the university, we often get close access to dignitaries and celebrities when they are on campus. When we received last-minute word that Mark Zuckerberg would be coming to campus, I jumped at the opportunity to shoot. He held a fireside chat at the Lied Center with various students from across campus. Because the talk was livestreamed on Facebook, my proximity was limited to the back of the room for the length of the talk.
When the forum finally ended, Zuckerberg and his personal photographer wanted to get a large group portrait of the students with Mark. I hung off to the side, and shot candids. I love this shot for the intimacy of Mark’s direct eye contact with the camera, while everyone else in the room is focused on something else.” – Meg Kumin, KU Marketing Communications
