The American bullfrog (Lithobates catesbeianus) is a large frog that lives in wetlands and is native to eastern North America. Adult bullfrogs may weigh as much as 1.8 lbs and attain body lengths of up to 8 inches. Males are larger than females and have yellow coloured throats as shown in the photo. Bullfrogs are opportunistic predators with voracious appetites. They consume a wide variety of prey including small rodents, birds, bats, lizards, snakes, fish, other frogs and toads as well as various invertebrates, such as crustaceans (crayfish), molluscs (snails) and insects.

I spotted this big guy from my bike. I stopped to get a few shots and had taken off my camera backpack and laid it in the grass beside the trail. After a few minutes I put my pack back on and started feeling something biting me. I then realized there were ants all over me. Turns out that I had put my backpack down in a fire ant nest. After 40+ bites to my body I can safely say that I learned my lesson. I am feeling better today and most bites have already started to get better. My right arm was the worst and got pretty swollen a few hours after the episode.

She had been living in our pond for over two years. All the other frogs and toads started disappearing. Also, baby fish. She grew huge! We caught her and found her a new home a few months ago. We are already seeing tiny toads and baby fish.

At the largest expansion (size) of this photo, and taking a close look in the eye, you will see a bridge and a person shadow. That would be me taking this photo. The bridge and my figure reflected in this bull frog eye.
