"LIT" Self-Portrait March 2023
I wanted to take this photo for half a year, but the moment of inspiration did not come - until yesterday. Mainly the creation was delayed by a non-existent hanging lampshade :D A simple solution would have been if someone had assisted me, but since self-portraits are created 90% in isolation, I had to come up with something, how I recreate a lampshade hanging from above.
It was a lot of tinkering around. This is what I meant in my story today: often simple things are created with complex workarounds. You really have to get inventive sometimes when you're constricted. But as I've written about this before: If you own all the technology and accessories to make a photo happen, getting from A to B is easy. If you don't have all of that, you go from A to B to C to D. And these additional paths are immensely educational and can take you much further.
Stay creative <3

Captured this staid brown female Brewer's Blackbird in soft morning light just outside of Best Western Desert Inn, West Yellowstone, Montana, USA. In contrast, the plumage of the male Brewer’s Blackbird is a glossy, almost liquid combination of black, midnight blue, and metallic green.

In this forest one can find a light track often used by runners. A misty evening I decided to go a bit off track to take this shot.
As you drive towards Portland, you will end up in a parking lot quite close to the lighthouse and beyond which you will not be able to proceed...Portland Bill Lighthouse is one of the most beautiful lighthouse locations I have ever been to...I have always dreamed of going well into the ocean and framing the lighthouse with the adjacent rocks and water. This is one place that offers this unique vantage point.
Although I had shot this almost a year ago, I somehow had overlooked one of the best places I had been during my trip to the Jurassic Coast. I can still feel the bitter cold that was that morning. The hues in the sky were just there for a brief moment after which the sun came out fully well and eclipsed the colors that were there on display.
Have a nice day everyone!
I was just enjoying the play of light and shadow in a couple of back-lit mango leaves in my garden !!!
Have a bright day, my dear friends !!!

Both haze and air plus Moonlight on the haze is adverse to a crisp image (note stars). The anti-tail seems to be fading as expected but the conditions do not help its imaging. 1 min 20 sec total integration captured with a Vixen VSD astrograph and Nikon Z8. The comet already appears smaller in the field of view in just two days, it is racing away quickly and will dim as well.
The tail structure is interesting with its central core it has a leaf-like structure. The symmetry is nice.
"30 LITS est une œuvre éphémère réalisée par KANVA. L’installation, qui durera deux mois, se déploie sur un terrain vacant privé au centre-ville de Montréal. Il s’agit d’une œuvre délicate constituée de 30 cadres de lits dépareillés récupérés à travers la ville et peints en blanc.
Par ailleurs, les 30 lits que l’œuvre expose soulignent la vocation future du terrain vacant puisque ce dernier accueillera bientôt une résidence universitaire de 30 chambres."
"30 LITS is an ephemeral art installation by KANVA. Slated to last two months, the exhibition occupies a private, vacant site in downtown Montreal. It is a delicate work consisting of 30 mismatched beds which were salvaged across the city and painted white.
The 30 beds displayed in this installation underline the future vocation of the site: a university residence of 30 rooms."

This is a unique image for in that the only light source here is from a pulse of lightning through the clouds. I shot this at nearly 11:30 at night, and it was otherwise pitch black out. For this split second, though, the whole scene was lit by a giant strobe filtered through the clouds. You can see how deeply crushed the shadows still are, but the bay comes alive with the reflected light. You can see a bolt on the right side of the image. This is Pleasant Bay in Prince Edward County, Ontario. It's amazing how unique lighting conditions can produce very unique images. Right time, right place.
