The new currently non-configurable login screen! Yes, we'll all miss having a custom one for a little while but they're working on a tool to fix that. As far as looks go, I really like it! Not too harsh, easy to look at in all the right places, and stylish.

Screen can be used to create a "desktop environment" for the command line.
Here I have two shells, I'm running Ubuntu 9.04 with one update that needs to be applied. System load is at 12%, all processors are running at 1.1Ghz at the moment, I have 3.8GB of RAM available to the system and 23% of it is in use. Today's date is obvious and I can bring up the menu by pressing F9 if I forget all the shortcuts.
