Afternoon at the Abattoir
Abattoir is a more formal name for buildings where large-scale, mechanized, regulated and inspected killing of animals is carried out. In other words, a nice euphemism for slaughterhouse. Although this is the rather unpleasant part of our foodchain, it is the culinary gateway to the market. So, please do care what kind of meat you buy and where it comes from. I wanted to experience the actual status of the meat packing industry, and it was disgusting. Btw, no animal got harmed for this shot.
from the depth of brutalist bones, silhouettes climb into a moment of clarity. they pass, they disappear – but their outlines remain, etched in the ribs of the structure. light frames them, but never halts them.
through the glass, the silence of a sunday creeps in. the bank stands empty, its halls untouched. light pours through the blinds, spilling shadows across the floor like forgotten memories. a faint figure lingers, barely there, a silhouette caught in the stillness. the steel, the glass, the air – all quiet, all waiting. it’s a moment that doesn’t belong. the light moves, but no one sees it.
Light & shadows with people sitting on the purple steps inside the Sydney Opera House. Have a great Sunday. I still don't like the new Flickr!!!
A perfect study in light, lines, and perspective. The wooden bridge stretches forward, flanked by water on both sides. Harsh afternoon sunlight slices through the railings, casting dramatic diagonal shadows that create a rhythm of geometry on the walkway. The vivid warm tones of the wood contrast beautifully with the cool blues of the surrounding water, turning a simple footpath into a dynamic composition of form and color.

I've been posting a lot of imagery of Ireland; today, something different… During a recent guided tour of the Omer Vander Ghinste brewery in Bellegem (Kortrijk), I was impressed by the combination of tradition and precise engineering. Brewing here began in 1892, but today's production area feels like a mix of craft and science. The brewery produces a variety of well-known Belgian beers, including OMER, Traditional Blond, Bockor, LeFort, Cuvée des Jacobins Rouge, and Kriek Max. Each one showcases a different aspect of Belgian brewing — from strong blond ales to classic fruit and abbey-style beers.
Polished steel tanks, clean lines, and filtered light tell a story of careful craftsmanship — every pipe and valve has a purpose. The Omer name, seen through the window, quietly reminds visitors that behind all the technology, there's still a family legacy passed down through five generations.

A study in rhythm and radiance.
The Bhumibol Bridge transforms into an abstract symphony of golden lines slicing through the night. From this angle, the monumental structure becomes intimate — less bridge, more music — its illuminated cables vibrating like strings against a canvas of darkness.
Captured beneath the span of Bangkok’s Industrial Ring Road Bridge, this photograph reveals the harmony between design and emotion, steel and silence. It’s a portrait of the unseen geometry that holds the city’s pulse — glowing quietly, endlessly.
another one!

I continue to be captivated by the interplay of lines, light, and shadows at the renovated administrative center in Gent Zuid. While I may not have achieved the perfect capture yet, I'm determined to keep trying. Despite this not being the ideal shot… I’m actually still wondering what the ideal shot would look like…:-) Anyhow, what I like about this image is the combination of the morning sun's yellow light and the overall cold blueish feel. - Ghent, Belgium
...soon I will have to utilize darkness and heaviness for balance.....

Every road holds a story, and every step writes a new chapter — a portrait woven into the heart of the city.

In this shot, I was drawn to the interplay of light and shadow. The strong sidelight illuminates the subjects beautifully, making them stand out against the dappled background. The repeating pattern of the black metal fence on the left creates a strong leading line, guiding the viewer's eye along the path. I think the natural, unposed moment as they walk and talk adds a lovely candid feel to the photograph, capturing a slice of life on this sunny pathway.
At sunset in Jeju, the sun settles neatly between the lines of steel.
Below, the faint silhouette of a city quietly holds its breath —
a moment between structure and story, precision and presence.
Took this shot on a slow photowalk through Kalasatama with a good friend—one of those crisp Helsinki days where the light just clicks. Something about the patterns and reflections in these buildings stopped us both. There’s a kind of rhythm in the windows, like the city humming to itself.
Not every walk gives you moments like this, but when they do… you remember them.

Title: Lines and Light
Notes: It was back to one of our favorite haunts this weekend, the Morris Arboretum. Always a pleasant place to walk around and treat your senses in all seasons. We were hoping for some autumn colors to delight our eyes and we were not disappointed. There are many wonderful gardens and copses of trees with paths ranging from paved roadways to single lane dirt trails. This shot of a 'furry' blossom was my alternate for this week's theme.
Biking along the Green belt in Scottsdale looking up at this grate and enjoying the play of light and graphic lines.
Description:
Between towering facades, the light carves sharp patterns across the ground, dividing shadow from form. Glass, steel, and stone rise in rigid symmetry, yet the emptiness of the passage turns the scene contemplative. It is the city reduced to geometry - lines, contrasts, reflections - where human presence feels absent but implied.
Sunlight filters through the wooden beams of a quiet pergola, casting sharp lines across the garden floor. In this tucked-away corner of the Utrecht Botanical Gardens, light and shadow play in harmony—nature drawing with architecture. The benches wait silently, offering rest beneath the cool canopy of climbing vines, where contemplation blooms as easily as the ivy.
Railroad tracks stretch into the distance, flanked by towering industrial forms that cast long shadows in the fading light. The low sun carves texture into concrete and steel, while the solitary rail leads the eye toward unseen destinations. Captured in monochrome, this image evokes themes of journey, isolation, and the quiet pulse of industry.

A peaceful afternoon in the heart of the city. Framed by soft greenery, the historic church stands tall, its clock frozen in a quiet moment. This composition was captured to highlight the harmony between manmade structure and nature’s spontaneity. I loved how the blurred leaves naturally guided the eye toward the symmetry and texture of the brickwork. Shot with a Canon EOS 250D.
