Turning the clock back to the good old days of EJ&E independence, an eastbound State Line load thunders along the Eastern Subdivision just to the west of Matteson back in September of 2008. The middle motor is a leased HLCX SD40-2 rebuild in a former Conrail/Erie Lackawanna SDP45 carbody.
This is basicly a long exposure shot (0,5 sec) taken through the window of a moving bus on a dark evening. Captured it on the same busride as I did with my other image "Alfred and the twins".
We didn't get into this line for ice cream at the Ferry Building -- it was too long -- but I remember developing a craving for vanilla.

This artist was painting the skyline of NYC from the High Line Park. The setting sun was shining on his paint and brushes, and I couldn't resist taking a few shots of him!

Pictured is a former station sign for the "South Shore Line" or as it is formerly known, the Chicago, South Shore, & South Bend. The South Shore Line is still in operation today and is known as America's last interurban. The South Shore still even does some street running in Michigan City.

Five-lined Skink (Eumeces fasciatus) - Great Falls National Park, Virginia
I found this guy hunting worms, and ants on the rocky shores of the Potomac River.
It also tried to sneak up on a Red Admiral butterfly, but the Red Admiral easily eluded the Skink.
