Male.
Scientific name: Linaria cannabina.
The linnet can be seen on farmland and heathland across the UK. But, like so many other farmland birds, linnets are declining rapidly, mainly due to agricultural intensification. Info: The wildlife Trusts.

Many thanks to all who take the time to view, comment or fave my images.
We found a small flock of Linnets constantly flitting from one bush to another. This one stayed still just long enough for me to take this shot.
Many thanks to all who take the time to view, comment or fav my images.
Linaria is a genus of 150 species of flowering plants, one of several related groups commonly called toadflax. The genus is native to temperate regions of Europe, northern Africa and Asia, with the highest species diversity in the Mediterranean region. Linaria aeruginea is found in the south and east of the Iberian peninsula and the Balearic Islands. Andalusia in particular appears to be a hotspot for Linaria diversity. We saw this specimen near the city of Ronda in Andalusia.
