One more year has gone by and Lucky and I have been together for nearly eleven years now. He is always there next to me and he knows when it's time to wait for me to take a photo. He knows that when the camera is out of the bag he has to wait for a bit. The title of this photograph is describing exactly our relationship! I was treated to a Black-shouldered kite (pictured) and a Nankeen kestrel, working a small strip of grassland around the Snipe Lake near home.
The Black-shouldered Kite is one of my favourite birds to watch while it hovers so gracefully over the landscape.
They were a fair way off.
Rather than discard the image though, and in keeping with my endevour to include the habitat of some birds, I have chosen to include the sky as it's habitat which is kind of limitless to a bird!

It looks like a large valley, but Siusi is the widest (52 km) plateau in Europe, ranging between about 1700 and 2300 meters of altitude. In the background you can see the Sciliar massif covered by a dusting of unexpected summer snow.
