An historical 1880 two-story building houses the Lima Historical Society & Museum at 117 Main St, in Lima, Montana.

The building is rustic, standing straight and strong, it is referred to as the Bailey Building, to some it is the "Lima Skyscraper". The building was built and occupied by E.A. Bailey and Sons as a mercantile, serving the town and employees of the Union Pacific Railroad.

The Mercantile being on Main Street, was a bustling center of town, with railroad housing, doctor's office, dentist office, and an eating house bordering this area,as well as the railroad service center with roundhouse and turntable.

Attached to the mercantile building, is a one story building that was the Ford Drugstore, owned and operated by Dr. L.C. Ford, a well known doctor serving Lima, Beaverhead County, and the railroad. Currently, the society uses this building as a dining room and kitchen, which previously was remodeled by the Masonic and the Order of Eeastern Star.

The Masonic Lodge and the Order of Eastern Star occupied the top floor, the members climbed the long set of outside stairs to their meeting room. A member recalls carrying wood up these stairs before each meeting, placing the wood in the wood stove, to warm the area before the members arrived. When the mercantile closed, the organizations moved their meeting place to the first floor, where they resided until 2000.

The society added a museum in 2006, which features artifacts from residing and former residents of the area. Recently, a dinosaur display was added highlighting the dinosaurs in Montana and the first ever recorded discovery of a burrowing dinosaur found in SW Montana near Lima.
