This aerial image showing a portion of the burn areas for both the High Park and Hewlett Fires was made possible by a donated flight provided by LightHawk (a nonprofit that provides flights to environmental groups).
My primary workplace, the Colorado Natural Heritage Program (CNHP), has joined the High Park Fire Restoration Coalition. The Coalition is charged to facilitate the environmental restoration of the watersheds most severely impacted by the recent High Park and Hewlett Gulch fires. An immediate focus will be reseeding and mulching high priority areas to mitigate erosion and impacts to water quality and local fish populations. You can see some of the mulching efforts in the image, the golden-shaded areas are where straw mulch has already been dropped.
If you are interested in getting involved with the restoration effort, there will be a community meeting on the High Park Fire tonight from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at The Lincoln Center in Fort Collins. I will be there with a booth for CNHP discussing impacts to rare and sensitive species. More info here. Follow CNHP on our blog here: cnhpblog.blogspot.com/
Image Notes: I'm amazed it worked, but this is a aerial vertorama taken on our LightHawk flight. I am glad I was able to pull it off as the vertorama really helps show off the huge extent of the fire, though I wish conditions had not been so hazy/smokey and cloudy. I've uploaded this image as Creative Commons to facilitate groups working on fire recovery to have easy access to use this image in their projects if they wish.
Had the opportunity to do some more aerial photography for OSI down in the Catskills. This is the view from New Paltz looking toward the Shawangunk Ridge.

All trim levels of the new Cherokee receive new wheel designs

Baltimore's Inner Harbor is seen at the far left at the end of the northwest branch of the Patapsco River, which receives water from the mouth of Jones Falls, on June 27, 2016. The Inner Harbor and tidal Patapsco River have received failing water quality grades for years according to a report card published by the Healthy Harbor Initiative for the Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore. Fecal bacteria reaches the water through the city's outdated and leaky sewage system, and pollutants enter with stormwater runoff.
