behind a perfect grid, motion turns into suggestion—two black marks, a blur of presence, an object in tow. time stretches thin behind translucent glass as the moment becomes more about pattern than person. this is not someone arriving or leaving, but simply existing within a frame that doesn’t care.
i stood above the silence and watched her cross a color that didn’t belong to this world. the glass had dyed the sun, and the sun, in turn, had dyed the walls. nothing felt permanent. even the shadow she left behind seemed unsure whether to stay. this wasn’t just a building. it was an illusion dressed as structure. light performed like a memory—fragmented, intentional, fleeting.
I was attracted by the craftsmanship and beauty of this ultra modern blown glass chandelier, which is almost like a piece of art.

"Just as treasures are uncovered from the earth, so virtue appears from good deeds, and wisdom
appears from a pure and peaceful mind. To walk safely through the maze of human life, one needs
the light of wisdom and the guidance of virtue."

I noticed at the cafe, during a sunny period last sunday, that the lighting was perfect for pictures.....
52 Weeks 2012, week 2 - Light through Glass.
Nice for us to receive a candle holder for Christmas with a stained glass ball in its design.
52 weeks 2012 - Week 2 - Light through glass
112 Pictures in 2012 - #60 - Something beginning with G - Glass (refraction)
100 WORDS #53 - Intriguing (I was certainly intrigued by what was created by the light refracted through the faceted glass!)
Randomly shot on the way home tonight.. stopped in a place I haven't stopped before but have often meant to so that I could see what a shot off the motorway (M32) bridge would look like. Tonight there was a lovely red sky (which I entirely failed to catch in either this or any of the other pics!) so that prompted me to stop. When I loaded the pics I liked this one - it's not your usual light trail shot - and on seeing it my partner declared it "Apocalyptic".
So I thought about it, and discussed it with partner (who disagreed quite vehemently), and decided it could be this weeks image. I'd been thinking about this theme and trying to decide what to do for it and then, randomly, the shot appeared :)
And how is it light though glass you may ask? Car Headlights. Light through glass. There you go :) Agree or disagree?

A Fresnel or catadioptric lens reflects and refracts the light into a narrow beam
Modern lenses are much smaller and lighter (although far less aesthetic) than Augustin-Jean Fresnel's original mulit-element design. The above lens is one of 4 that produce the characteristic flash sequence for the Nash Point Lighthouse.
Technical information
Light: 1500W lamp
Lens: 1st order 920 mm catadioptric fixed lens
Intensity: 140,000 Candela
Range Of Light: 21 nautical miles
Lovely View of this Rose of Malbec from Argentina....yumm....anticipation....
listening to Gary Numan's "Me! I disconnect from You".....old! Abstracted and I can feel the water rivulets coming down fast
Exposure was hand-held for 1.3 seconds
Thanks all: I am on hiatus
Two lights: One 8" reflector shooting through a scrim creating the long highlights. The other light is a beauty dish with grid spot shooting almost directly into the mean bottle creating the almost glowing feel.

Assignment: Light through glass
I found this assignment to be very difficult. It was fun, and I learned a lot, but would love to have had more time to play with and understand the many ways light can be altered as it passes through glass.
In this case the sunlight was shining through a piece of stained glass, creating prisms around the room. I particularly liked when the rainbow shone on Buzz's face.
This image was blatently inspired by a similar image from Gitchi Gummi

I tried several approaches and have to say this particular one is my favorite. The light was refracted through a cut glass vase onto a piece of white paper taped to the wall. I left the shadow of the vase in the image as I thought it added mystery, and I colored the image post processing.

This is light through the stopper of the crystal decanter I used for the other photo. Again I felt the shadow added to the interest of the image. I see a robot's head. Or maybe ET.
Beautiful Glimmer of Winter Sunshine pierces through the glass roof of the East Yard In Camden Market, in Camden Town, London.
The Available Winter light is so different! There is no warmth to it, its clear and harsh not warm, hazy, cinematic and embracing like Summer light. It just cuts through the day. Then in Dusk like in this picture in London, it can give an almost Liminal Space ambient quality as it forces through the glass roof. Reinforcing that weird "you should be hibernating" feeling sometimes you get in the winter months
