Beautiful skies over Northeast Columbia, SC

Nightfall at a local park...

Happy Bench Monday

It was quite a rain storm we had last night, elevated by strong wind and accompanied by tons of lightning.

A cold front will sweep through our area this morning with strong northerly winds, it will leave the area feeling like winter for days!!! 😞

Thanks for stopping by; have a restful and relaxing weekend, dear photography friend!! 💕🌹

🎆Midsummer night garden party🎆

Sunset,

Out of nowhere,

People will get together.

While eating beer and treats,

A cheerful singing voice makes people dance.💃💃💃

Welcome to such a party venue♪

Our future is still misty. Which choice do we make ?

Do we take the easy, but boring, turn to the right, or

do we go -after mastering some obstacles- straight forward ?

Friday night before sunset some rain clouds and storms raced through the city allowing me to capture some incredible colors and textures in the sky.

As I was walking up to the overlook on the Liberty Memorial, I saw these two people taking in the sights.

Medicine Park, OK

a 'first' for me......snowy owls are not native at all to our area however during eruptions one may occasionaly turn up in the midwest....from my understanding when the birds main food source is scare, lemmings, they tend to fly farther south...

I didn't like the lightpole however I'll take any image I can of this beauty....

From 7th Street in Downtown Los Angeles, California.

A lone gull perched on this light pole. I just kept thinking that this light was somehow a catapult that would launch this bird into flight ... maybe I just need more sleep.

The Oudeland van Strijen is a meadow bird area. In the spring it is teeming with godwits, redshanks and lapwings and in winter with barnacle and white-fronted geese. There is also a bird observation hut and a pumping station.

The Oudeland van Strijen nature reserve, 500 hectares in size, is a popular area for many winter visitors such as the pygmy goose and meadow birds such as the godwit and lapwing. The land consolidation and desiccation due to drainage had a negative effect on surrounding plots and on the Oudeland van Strijen. At the moment, the low water level in the ditches in winter and spring in particular imposes restrictions on the successful raising of meadow birds.

The Oudeland van Strijen is a large area with wet grasslands and small gravel roads in between. In spring the area is supported by water pumps so that many waders nest in the area. There are two bird watching spots in the area. Birds that you can see here are Hen Harrier, White-tailed Eagle, Avocet, Black-tailed Godwit, Redshank, Golden Plover, Shoveler, Oystercatcher, Golden Plover, Lapwing, Curlew, Brent Goose, Lesser White-fronted Goose, Canada Goose and White-fronted Goose. Details ACCESS Park at the beginning of the Molenweg then you can walk to one of the bird hides. Or park at the Strijen pumping station (another bird hide). Various routes possible via Waleweg, Moelenweg, Bovenweg (not by car) and the various gravel roads. Bicycle, car (partly), on foot.

Mixed Light Series

The time of day that draws me in where electric light and natural evening light meet creating a few moments of a special blend that alters both.

I processed the image with a painterly abstraction expressing my impression of the moment.

So much for so little...our little downtown is not very prosperous these days. This is one of the side streets.

This carnival ride doesn’t turn its riders upside down, but it does whip its occupants around in a circular pattern on a platform attached to a long arm that goes up and over the top, rising 55 feet above the midway. The Rock Star then "gives riders a unique free-fall experience as the platform whisks towards the ground," according to modernmidways.com.

In this shot, the platform was on its way up. By tracking the platform with my camera, I was able to capture the motion blur while keeping the platform and riders mostly in focus. If you zoom in and check out the expressions, you can see that most riders seemed to be enjoying the ride, though there are a few exceptions.

Happy Independence Day to all of my American friends!

Avila Beach, San Luis Obispo County, California.

We had a record heat wave for November here in Hobart last week, then it all came to an abrupt end yesterday when thunder clouds moved in and we had a great thunder storm. Today it was almost normal until about 20 minutes ago when the skies downpoured and we had a flash flood (and a flooded laundry again ...).
