In the St. Louis Union Station Hotel. Union Station was designed by Theodore Link and opened in 1894. The station was converted into a hotel (now a Hilton) in the 1980s.
The tour guide said most of the lights were both electric and gas, because, Mr. Fishburn didn't trust electricity.
If you line up your shots carefully there are vignettes possible that could have been taken 75 years ago. The conductor heads from the coolness of the morning depot back to his waiting train at the platform. August 10, 2024.
This is the stained glass light fixture and flower arrangement in the entry lobby just inside the front door. I'm glad I had the golden hour light shining into the lobby. In this photo, I tried highlighting the artistry, craftsmanship, woodwork, and curvature of the stained glass. I believe the design is torrey pine branches and pine cones.

I am amazed, no matter what the conditions, no matter what the situation, I will find something to photograph. It gives me a sense of calm, of control, no matter what is happening around me. Lying in the ER last night, this fluorescent light above my head, iPhone in my hand....need I say more? (well, maybe...this has not been changed to B&W, it's how it came out on the iPhone. I love 'natural B&Ws'.
During my class break last night I happened to look up to notice the cool looking lighting. The rest is history.

I took this right outside the Lincoln Park Conservatory, a beautiful glass building full of interesting plants. From here, you can look south on Lincoln Park and see the skyscrapers of Chicago in the distance.
