Tame Impala + The Flaming Lips Halloween show

Bill Graham Civic Auditorium / San Francisco, CA

2013

On Sunday myself and 15,000 runners where invited to take part in the National Lottery Anniversary Run at the Olympic Stadium this was an event to mark one year on since the hugely successful 2012 Olympics.

It wasn't the most scenic race I have ever done as the site is under construction to become the new Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. However the stadium is still intact and running in to the roar of the 30,000 strong crowd and finishing on the iconic track, (with a blistering 15 second sprint finish on the final 100 metres haha) was something that I will never forget, it was a remarkable experience and will live long in the memory.

Well done everyone who took part.

this is pretty much how each team member was every day - with a kid hugging them :)

#RudiCarrell RUDI CARRELL SHOW 30

Having started performing late 1989, after many small gigs, and exhaustive touring locally and nationally in Germany, finally in December 7, 1991, was the night my life changed forever and launched my career. It was my first ever performance on live television on the fourth season of the highly successful TV program "Die Rudi Carrell Show - Laß Dich überraschen" in Germany.

THANK YOU Rudi Carrell (RIP), the show producers, and team for giving me this lifechanging opportunity. I will never forget and I am forever grateful.

[*taken from biography] “Slim Khezri’s first notable television appearance was in Germany, on Saturday, December 7, 1991, on the popular hit show “Die Rudi Carrell Show”, where he competed as one of five guests, impersonating famous singers, and hosted by Dutch entertainer, and TV icon Rudi Carrell. Out of hundreds of applicants per episode, Khezri was invited back to audition by WDR (West German Broadcasting, Cologne). After 3 attempts, he secured his casting, he was chosen from among 30 candidates. Rudi Carrell (thought by many to have discovered Slim Khezri) was very convinced, and believed in Khezri's talents, and made personally the phone call to confirm him for the show. Pre-taped the night before on Friday, December 6, 1991, Khezri gave a stunning performance as Michael Jackson, singing the classic “Billie Jean” LIVE, captivating the audience with his dance moves and the iconic Moonwalk. The show was a huge hit, it drew the largest audience to date, at nearly 50 million viewers throughout Europe and beyond, which brought him instant fame. The show included a similar concept to “Star Search” or “Pop Idol” in America and brought many well-known German pop stars and actors to prominence, such as Alexis (as Whitney Houston) or Mark Keller (as Dean Martin). It also featured comedy sketches, and a ‘Make-a-Wish’ segment.”

In late 2005 I was involved in an amazing flickr project, the Flickrwall in Newcastle. (You can see my contribution here.)

It was also the time that I discovered I had cancer and so I always associate it with a lifechanging period of my life. I also met some great people who I'm now pleased to call friends.

Some young film-makers from Northern Stars got in touch with some us recently as they're doing a video about the wall and the people who were involved in it.

After they had finished the interview, they were kind enough to be in today's SP.

( This being-interviewed thing is getting to be a habit...)

Delighted to have this and 3 other images from my "Being Human" series appearing in the 26th London Independent Photography Annual Exhibition - coming soon!

21st October - 2nd November @ Embassy Tea Rooms in London

Write the dates in your diary - this is always a terrific exhibition!

I was bored waiting for the second set of films to be processed and snapped this. I had no idea anything would be amiss and until I get hard data next week I refuse to worry. Lorad Affinity mammography x-ray unit.

A quite afternoon to start a weekend after such a busy life changing week ,,
