As you all know, Moleskine has been associated with artistic and creative professionals for a long time, but there is the other side of the Moleskine brain that is not being tapped into since the beginning. It is the GTD/Hack/Productivity side of the other hemisphere. So last year I tried to work with Moleskine to generate a brand new promotion about this unexplored terrain. Too bad the content was not good enough so we gave up until this year.

Finally with help from Lifehack.org, we are able to find more great contents for an exhibition to be held in Hong Kong city'super's 5 locations in July. There will be a free booklet for visitors to pick up to learn more about all these hacks. We will put 4 stamps in every store (creativity, productivity, fun and archive) so that people can stamp their booklets. Soon as you get 4 stamps shown in our cashier counter, you get 20% off for any Moleskine purchase. Showing the stamped booklet to our concierge counter makes you eligible for one of the 3 workshops/seminars about productivity. You can also tear off part of the booklet to vote for the best exhibiting entry in the event, voters are eligible for a lucky draw! I can't believe how much efforts has been put into this cool event. Do visit us at city'super (http://www.citysuper.com.hk) and play with us!

And now my entry to the hack. I've converted my Mole into a loudspeaker. Battery and electronics are hidden inside a cut out Mole.

At the back of this MoleLoudSpeaker, a switch to turn it on, a mic for you to speak to, and a horizontal switch to select either speaker, police siren or fire engine siren modes. So have fun to innovate with a Moleskine notebook and do aim for a lifetime's supply of Moleskine! Again, check out the details here.

Is it just me or is some packaging becoming harder and harder to open these days? We’ve all experienced the seemingly endless struggle to get a particularly stubborn jar unscrewed. Even worse, the harder the jar is to open, the greater the desire becomes to get the tasty treat it houses....

Look what I did this weekend!

I got the idea from here and made a few modifications to the design. I stuck with the lined notebook, and my edges are curved; for glue I used a 50/50 mix of Elmer's and water instead of PVA glue.

The whole thing took about 3 hours Saturday night, and I let it dry overnight before doing some polishing this afternoon.

Recently I was inspired on a keyhodler found here on Flickr. I thought this is a good idea - small, easy and fast to build. Then my girlfriend joined this little project and wanted "her stuff" included..... :D

From left to right:

some classic space, the Disney castle, a small cat tree with our 3 cats, the Assasins Creed logo and in front of it the Black Pearl attacked by a giant kraken.

Note: No Lego parts were harmed to get this attached to the wall!

For most toy collectors, they would flat-pack the packaging boxes that came with the toys. For the Monster Burp's owners, with a simple hack, you can turn the packaging to a refillable tissue box.

Here's an example form, filled out.

You can download the PDF form and read the instructions on JB.

I also haven't figured out what to do with my in-basket, it's still overflowing with stuff so it's not back on the desk yet. I'm thinking I'll ditch the tickler file and put the in-basket there... The tickler isn't really working for me and hasn't since I started with GTD.

The cards laid out on the left are part of my AgileGTD method, inspired by Getting Things Done, Practices of an Agile Developer and www.lifehack.org/articles/lifehack/timeslicing-for-humans.... I'm still working out the kinks, but it's really helped a lot. I use cards from the DIY Planner.

Picture this: You've finally done it. You've cruised down to a pristine tropical beach, the kind postcards are made of, in your gleaming, vintage cabriolet. The sun is shining, the breeze is perfect, and you just know this is the peak of your vacation. You park it right under what looks like a conveniently shady palm tree, ready to soak up some rays. What could possibly go wrong?

Well, that seemingly innocuous palm tree is also a coconut delivery system, and it operates on a schedule completely unconcerned with your prized possession. Imagine the satisfying thunk as a rock-hard, perfectly ripe coconut decides to make a direct impact with your beautifully restored canvas roof, or worse, your shiny chrome bumper. It's not just a dent; it's a tropical projectile engineered by nature to ruin your day and possibly your insurance deductible. Suddenly, that picturesque shade looks a lot more like a peril.

So, while the allure of a vintage car on a tropical beach is undeniable, resist the urge to park directly in the coconut drop zone. Your classic ride deserves better than an impromptu game of coconut bowling, especially when it's playing the role of the unfortunate pin. Find a nice, open spot, far from any botanical projectiles, and enjoy the view knowing your cabriolet is safe from nature's rather heavy-handed attempts at redecorating.

Ideas in my brain are invisible. Once I capture it on indexcard, then it become visible in this real world.

Day 14: My favourite EDS lifehack

There was a life before and after my hEDS probs gone worse.

I don't regret one day when I overwhelmed my body.

Ok, my multiple Orthosis are a necessary help in my life...like the gear to polish my car....😂😂Whithout all that small ergonomic helpers like splints or just a remote life would be much more complicated....and painful.

But for me the "ultimate" lifehack is to accept in a daily challenge not to go above my limits....that's hard because I loved to get over it in my "normal" life which I had before. 😂

To rest is the best thing I could do for my body.....but who wants to rest the whole day??...that makes you sick in the long run too.

I enjoy every day when I'm able to go up and do what I love most.....and there are a few things...💖👨👩👧👦🐕🐈🐈🌅🚙🔊📷🔦⚡🌻 #Sony a6000 + #samyang 12/2,0 lens + Magilight by #Fotorgear in a single shot.

I noticed the other day that I was wasting a lot of time getting ready in the morning. I had to constantly be picking up and putting away grooming items, increasing the time required and the probability of dropping them on the floor. With a few strips of common cellophane tape several irritating tasks become an extra bit of fun in my morning!

*********************************************************

This, like several other pictures throughout this album, was taken in Verdi Square - tiny little park bounded by Broadway on the west, Amsterdam Ave on the east, and 72/73rd street on the north/south.

As noted in a previous picture, the young woman who was supervising this young boy and his brother plunked herself down on an unoccupied stone bench, and tossed out a couple of crumbled-up crackers to attract some of the nearby pigeons. The pigeons did indeed flock around, which the curly-haired blond boy thought quite entertaining... at one point, he gestured to the babysitter so she could see the pigeons that were in mid-flight...

**********************

This is part of an evolving photo-project, which will probably continue throughout the summer of 2008, and perhaps beyond: a random collection of "interesting" people in a broad stretch of the Upper West Side of Manhattan -- between 72nd Street and 104th Street, especially along Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue.

I don't like to intrude on people's privacy, so I normally use a telephoto lens in order to photograph them while they're still 50-100 feet away from me; but that means I have to continue focusing my attention on the people and activities half a block away, rather than on what's right in front of me.

I've also learned that, in many cases, the opportunities for an interesting picture are very fleeting -- literally a matter of a couple of seconds, before the person(s) in question move on, turn away, or stop doing whatever was interesting. So I've learned to keep the camera switched on (which contradicts my traditional urge to conserve battery power), and not worry so much about zooming in for a perfectly-framed picture ... after all, once the digital image is uploaded to my computer, it's pretty trivial to crop out the parts unrelated to the main subject.

For the most part, I've deliberately avoided photographing bums, drunks, drunks, and crazy people. There are a few of them around, and they would certainly create some dramatic pictures; but they generally don't want to be photographed, and I don't want to feel like I'm taking advantage of them. I'm still looking for opportunities to take some "sympathetic" pictures of such people, which might inspire others to reach out and help them. We'll see how it goes ...

The only other thing I've noticed, thus far, is that while there are lots of interesting people to photograph, there are far, far, far more people who are not so interesting. They're probably fine people, and they might even be more interesting than the ones I've photographed ... but there was just nothing memorable about them.

Origami (折り紙) means a folding paper in Japanese. And a pod is an 5x3 index card holder that plays a keyrole in the PoIC system. Let's make it by ourselves :)

Print the template on 3 sheets of A4 size paper. A paper should not be too thin or too thick. Find appropriate paper that bears open-close action of the accordion.

# I found a paper I use here was still thin. Choose thicker paper like this when you try. ;)

News! : The OrigamiPod is Introduced on www.lifehack.org/articles/productivity/paper-accordion-or... :))

Using the principles behind such innovations as "warchalking" -- the process of manually noting, with chalk, in real-life, where to find wi-fi signals -- I've begun the process of "wartagging," namely, the process of aggressively tagging things around me, in order to unclutter my own personal data. After this is done, I plan to go to my friends' houses and do the same thing.

This very serious video shows the possibility of retreating into a dark forest if you really want a change in life. 👍😉

WARNING: The packing list at the end of the video is not complete.

Hot glue a 1x2 plate onto those hard-to-see-into drawers and put a sample element on the front. Add a second "support plate" if you need a different attachment point. Low cost, easy to customize, easy to swap out things as needs shift.

This has made a big difference to my "where the heck did I put those" headache levels.

After creating the original mind.Depositor with clips and used it for a while, I found a small problem but it bugs me on regular basis. To insert and pull out the cards, it requires force, no matter how small it is, it creates stress. That's why superior Japanese stationery designs often put into considerations how to reduce user efforts. They call the practice "Universal Design".

So I set out to do a simpler version by using two pieces of leather only. I also have a practice to carry a small notepad or Field Notes to capture to-do inputs temporarily before transferring them to GTD index cards. So I'm adding a slit for the notepad and a slit to store extra blank index cards.

On the left hand side of the cover, I can put a notepad by inserting it to a slit, put blank GTD index cards in the pocket and insert a Field Notes.

On the right hand side I can put two categories of index cards (Personal and Work) into different pockets.

There is also a flap used as a bookmark or enclosure.

The whole thing becomes more compact and functional. It requires less effort to use, it is a simpler design with pleasant leather as the only material, I'm so happy with it. I especially like the color contrast of the outer white and inner brown. So check out the sections below and learn how to create your own.

The box for hanging files was made from cardboard with wooden ends, metal strips as rails, and handles made from fence straining wire.

The large files will be condensed into the mini filing system after extracting core information. The two bulging files simply labled 'Garden' (hm, where in this pile is the article on growing figs?) will be transfered to fact A6 sheets and sorted by plant and other garden related subject. I tried to fit the template onto an A7 sheet, but it would be a bit crowded, so this one will be an A6 rack.

Makeup is a real art that requires certain skills and knowledge.

In this post, I will share with you the life hacks of professional makeup artists. Following their advice, you will be able to create the perfect makeup for the whole day and look flawless.

Secret

number 1. Start any makeup with lip balm. When it's the turn of the lipstick (usually at the very end), they will become soft and it will be easier to make up.

💎 Secret No .2. Before applying makeup, be sure to use the base. It will help to even out the skin tone and make your makeup more resistant.

💎 Secret number 3. Everyone knows that the boundaries of the foundation should not be visible: it must be carefully shaded, especially along the hairline. But for some reason everyone forgets about the ears!

💎 Secret number 4. Also, do not forget about concealer to hide dark circles under the eyes and other skin imperfections.

💎Secret number 5. To emphasize makeup, there are highlighters and bronzers. The rule of their application says – dark shades are applied to areas that need to be reduced, light and sparkling products are distributed over convex areas. For example, a golden or mother-of-pearl highlighter indicates cheekbones, a small amount is applied to the dimple under the chin, on the forehead and the back of the nose. Dark matte powder or bronzer is used for sculpting. It is applied under the cheekbones and lower jaw, to narrow the face, you can emphasize the temples. It is important to carefully blend the borders so that the effect of spots on the face is not created.

Secret number 6. Many girls do not dye their eyelashes correctly. Move the brush zigzag upwards from the roots to the tips. This simple technique helps to visually open your eyes. And this way you can give them an almond shape – only you need to move the brush not strictly upwards, but towards the outer corner of the eye.

💎 Secret number 7. If you apply a gloss under a matte lipstick, the lip skin will look like satin. Don't you like well-defined lips? Apply lipstick with your fingers.
