My Grandmother passed away in 2004, at the age of 90. She has lived a full life, and while we were sad at her passing, it was time.
In addition to wonderful memories, and the strength to follow my dreams, she left me a couple of more tangible things. One is these stacking dolls, which I had given her when I went to Leningrad in 1991. The other was a small sum of money.
I was in the midst of my burnout/breakdown, and I used the money to book the trip of my dreams. I had to wait until early 2006 to actually take the trip, but it was worth the wait. It was a trip that changed my life, and arguably effected all but two of my remaining events. It will continue to effect my life in ways I can only guess.
I hope that wherever she is, she knows the amazing gift that she left me.
Don't just think outside the box, think like there is no box. We are all capable if we have faith and passion.
