You have to understand that I'm originally from the flatter portions of Michigan. If you entered a building at end and exited on the other, you'd stay on the same level no matter what happened. Ten years of living in Seattle hasn't removed my amusement at the fact that "street level" is a relative term here.

From the series: "Ground Level Windows".

This kind of windows is quite interesting from an architectonic point of view and for the wrought iron present especially in old buildings.

Moreover they have something mysterious.

Here’s my mood board for my A-Level Textiles course. The brief "an influential decade." I have chosen the 90’s. One of my favourite films was created and released in the 90’s - “Clueless”. This iconic film is known best for it’s bold and statement costumes designed by the amazing Mona May. My specification for this project includes ensuring I make a two piece outfit inspired by both Clueless and the super models that owned the 90’s which of course is Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell.

On the 28th September 1849 on her way back to London from Balmoral Castle, Queen Victoria made a stop in Newcastle to open the new High Level Bridge designed by Robert Stepehnson to span the River Tyne. The local newspaper described the event “Her Majesty, Queen Victoria, passed through this town yesterday. Her Majesty travelled by rail, and did not leave her carriage; but, on the centre of the High Level Bridge her Majesty condescended to receive addresses from the Mayor, Aldermen, and Burgesses of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and from the Mayor and Corporation of Gateshead. Her Majesty’s entrance into the borough of Newcastle was recognised by a salute of 21 guns from the Old Castle, where in times gone past, the sovereigns of this country have been domiciled and entertained. The bells of St Nicholas sent forth merry peals; and military bands awakened attention to the various detachments of Infantry, and the Artillery, as they proceeded to the places assigned to them in the programme of arrangements. All this while the rain continued to descend, but it seemed not in the least to deter her Majesty’s lieges from displaying their loyalty and attachment to their Sovereign.”
