The sunsets on the Levels in Somerset can be truly breathtaking - as though the sky is literally on fire. I'd forgotten all about this picture until looking through tonight. Thought it might be worth sharing.

Second Geodetic Levelling, Scotland (1936-52).
Flush bracket G79 was used during the second geodetic levelling of Scotland, and was levelled with a height of 21.8930 feet [6.6730 metres] above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Corwar to Ayr levelling line. Geodetic line G.215, levelled during 1937. The surveyor's description was SE angle of convent, at junction of Henrietta Street and Ailsa Street, West Girvan.
Third Geodetic Levelling, Scotland (1956-68).
This flush bracket was used again during the third geodetic levelling of Scotland. It was included on the Ayr to Stranraer levelling line. Geodetic line G.305, levelled during 1957. The surveyor's description was convent school, Henrietta Street, E face, SE angle.
This marker was last verified in 1970. The OS Online Archive gives the description as convent school, Henrietta Street, E face, SE angle.
SITE VISIT
Flush bracket on red sandstone building, west side of Henrietta Street. The former convent building now possibly part of the Court. Public pavement-side access. Bracket in good condition.

The water level at Lake Jocassee has recovered quite well this year. This is the highest we've ever seen it.
Class 37 number 37898 runs down past Heath High Level on 4th March 1989 whilst hauling the 7C86 Cwmbargoed to Aberthaw Power Station MGR coal train. Class 116 DMU number C362 has just departed forming the 1252 Barry Island to Caerphilly service.

Sacsayhuaman (or, “sexy woman” as it is pronounced by many tourists) was a major military and religious site for the Incas. The site is composed of three-tier zigzag walls made up of some of the most impressive Inca stonework both in size and in technique. The Incas designed Cuzco to be in the shape of a puma and the zigzag walls of Sacsayhuaman not only acted as a fortress but also as the teeth of the puma.
