Hanging tropical plant with small flowers. One of many within the temperature controlled Begonia House, winter, Wellington Botanic Garden, New Zealand.
This is Greystoke my 35 year old (plus) African Grey parrot. He can talk up a storm clear as a bell, even knows all the swear words. Mimics my voice perfectly. When I rescued this bird I had no idea he'd live this long, it really is a lifetime commitment.
I think humans are strange beings.
When we are in winter, we miss the sun and warmth of the summer. When we are in the hot summer, we try to find shade to cool us down.
This is just repost of an old picture taken in June 2014.
Have a great day!
The sun is so bright at Commercial Drive on this Italian Day.
And we need a shade.
Have a great week starting on!

Today is Bell Let's Talk 2024 and Its basically talking about your Mental Health. We all struggled with mental health and we try to cover it with a wall in front of us and trust me i do that when i am out in public with my work. The people that are really close to me can see pass that wall. Sometime i have to remember to breathe and talk about what is effecting my mental health and to move pass it. its takes baby steps. Just remember you are awesome and loved never felt alone. You can make a difference with a smile, a hello, a chat, etc. Let's be that person to make a difference in that person. So let's grab a coffee or tea and let's chat. Always here to chat with you. Hey How are you doing today?

The good thing about Flickr is that you can chat about photography and have dialogue with different people.
This is also an archive of candid picture taken in 2014 in Chinese New Year parade.
Have a great Tuesday!
There are famous dialogues of Plato and Confucius. These dialogues are made up of the wise words.
I saw the dialogue of the two horns in the Chinatown parade last week. Can we "see" any wisdoms in this dialogue?
Have a great Sunday!
Here in Canada it is Bell Let's Talk Day so of course I have to wear my #BellLetsTalk hat that I was gifted by one of the many Med Tech's I worked along side at the Base Clinic in Kingston several years back on one of the first #BellLetsTalk days.
I was always a big supporter of #BellLetsTalk from the onset at our medical clinic in ending the stigma because in any given year 1 in 5 Canadians will experience a mental health illness or addiction.
PTSD for our service members was just one of the Mental Health issues that some suffered. Back in World Wars I and II, the Korean War and other times of conflict PTSD did not have a name per say. They used the term "shell shock" and of course many who went through those conflicts never spoke of the trauma they endured from the things they saw.
Of course PTSD is not just a "soldiers illness" now, we see our first responders too are suffering from PTSD as well as many "normal" citizens. Trauma of any kind can produce PTSD and left unchecked our mental well being suffers. We go to a doctor for medical health issues, an specialist such as an ophthalmologist for eye health issues etc. so, why is there as stigma attached to going to see a Mental Health Professional for our mental well being? Two out of three people will suffer in silence for fear of the stigma attached to it.
Mental Illness at one time had a stigma attached to it - even now the stigma is there and we must all try to end the stigma that surrounds mental health issues. We can do so by educating ourselves . One good place to learn more about Mental Health Issues here in Canada is the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and you can find them on the web at www.camh.ca/
Adults are not the only ones who can have a mental health issues - children too suffer. Since 2020 when many cities around the world were in a form of lockdown, people's mental health took it's toll. One thing to remember is it's okay to be not okay.
If you are in Canada and are with the Bell Network you can call or text today and Bell will donate 5 cents towards a mental health initiative.
Why not join the world's biggest mental health initiative today and help stop the stigma. You can learn more at letstalk.bell.ca/en/
The theme is close to home and this cause is close to home for me because I am 1 in 5.
Face to face, over the phone or on the computer?
Happy Monday and great week ahead!

No matter how badly heartbroken, entangled, breached, insecure, unworthy, helpless, slammed, shattered, hopeless or deprived you feel let not the next word #depressed take away all the place in you or anyone else...Care to share!!
Tunning in with this year's theme #depressionletstalk on #worldhealthday...Let's put the smiles back!!
Esmalte repetido detected.
Ameiiii...
P.S. no fim do show, voltei pra casa com duas unhas quebradas =(

Bratz Let's Talk Yasmin. She's about 11" tall which I like because it means MGA could take more care with her face.
Boy can this doll talk. After a while I had to turn her off. The way she asks 100 questions gets to be a lot like having a younger sibling in the room.
BTW she can fit regular Bratz shoes! But they make it look like she has tiny Jessica Rabbit feet. LOL
Clara Hughes, OC OM MSC (born September 27, 1972) is a Canadian cyclist and speed skater who has won multiple Olympic medals in both sports. Hughes won two bronze in the 1996 Summer Olympics and four medals (one gold, one silver, two bronze) over the course of three Winter Olympics. She is tied with Cindy Klassen as the Canadian with the most Olympic medals, with six medals total.[3]
Hughes is one of the few athletes who have competed in both the Summer and Winter Olympic games.[4] Hughes is one of only five people to have podium finishes in the Winter and Summer versions of the games, and is the only person ever to have won multiple medals in both.[5][6][7] Hughes was the first Canadian woman to win a medal in road cycling at the Olympics, winning two in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.[3]
As a result of her success in multiple sports and her humanitarian efforts, Hughes was named to both the Order of Manitoba and as an Officer of the Order of Canada. She is involved with Right To Play, which is an athlete-driven international humanitarian organization that uses sports to encourage the development of youth in disadvantaged areas.[8] After winning her gold medal in 2006, she donated $10,000 to Right to Play.
Throughout her career Hughes received a number of other awards, trophies, and accolades. She was named Female Athlete of the Year by Speed Skating Canada in 2004 for long track. In 2006, she received the International Olympic Committee's Sport and Community Trophy. She was then named to the 2006 List of Most Influential Women in Sport and Physical Activity by the Canadian Association for Advancement of Women and Sport (CAAWS). In the summer of the year 2010, it was announced that she would receive a star on the Canadian Walk of Fame and on November 15, 2010, she was inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame.

Detail of a larger image. Guy sat on North Bridge in Edinburgh circa 2006.
The bridge gets a lot of suicides and suicide attempts, most of it spans Waverley Station; I've not heard of any in a while, which is good.
This guy was talked down by the police, thankfully.
Today is #BellLetsTalk and is arguably the most influential campaign aimed at ending the stigma of mental illness. Let's break the silence—together. #MentalHealth #Construction #Contribute #Stigma #Awareness #ConstructingHistory #mgicorp

This is a water colour painting I did back in the 90's. It is of the Isle of Skye. The photo Brian Lynch took today reminded me of my painting so I thought I'd use it for today's Poetography challenge for Talk. Thanks for the inspiration and allowing me to use the link to your photo Brian! :) www.flickr.com/photos/bgdlynch/15321036881/
