Before the container service had departed the confines of the old station, another working pops into view coming under Coronation Bridge, this time its a light engine move from Derby making its way up to the Down Decoy Yard at Doncaster on the 0Y31 move. 'In charge' is DBC class 60, 60091, with 'Barry Needham' nameplate and without any 'fiddling' it is seen passing the south-bound container service, departing Felixstowe at 01:47 that morning, and having come via Doncaster, it will reach its destination at the Masbrough Container Depot in about 30 minutes at 12:10. Meanwhile, 'Barry Needham' makes its way slowly to a 'station stop' at Masbrough's north end signal, S0425, where it will wait for passage of another move, before proceeding north to Doncaster. In the background, the new Biomass facility is taking shape and the new bridge across the River Don has now been lifted into place, after removal of the old blue one, resident there for decades; it is now sat on the land at the Sheffield Road side of the river, presumably awaiting disposal. Templeborough Biomass Power Plant Ltd, which is owned by management firm Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners K/S (CIP), said on Friday (November 13) that below ground work for the facility has now been completed...'

The long container train is slowing on approach to the north end of the Freightliner Depot just around the corner in the right-hand picture and it will move along to the Canklow Up Goods Loop on the east. left, side of the tracks to access the southern entrance to the facility on the west side, entailing a cross over of the main lines; the loco being either at the front... or back!!
What I love about Wales...Photographing the ecology within Wales and promoting it is a privilege. The benefits of reconnecting with nature are immeasurable. This nature reserve and many others dotted around Wales represent how beautiful and vibrant the ecology of Wales can be in its entirety given the right conditions.

We live on a small Island where all of this will be on doorsteps. It will leave a filthy legacy, that the planet and you and your children can't afford. This is about short term politics.
We've been gas independent previously with North Sea Gas what did it do then? Polluted, bankers gambled, government let them, boom bust, rich stay rich, you and the environment pay.
We have technology to be energy independent, there is no need for energy poverty; renewables. It is the only real future investment. It can make you money and save you money, create real employment whilst improving the longterm prospects of your children and planet.

Prototype bear made as a result of a unique partnership between environmental company Veolia and Reuseful UK (a social enterprise). The latter are turning redundant PPE (personal protective equipment) - corporate workwear, into teddy bears - amongst other things.

Work begins on 7m composting plant in Lancashire
Lancashire based technology firm TEG Environmental is building its largest compost recycling plant to date.
The company has borrowed 2 million from the Bank of Scotland and raised 5 million through company shares for the facility to be built at Todmorden in Lancashire.
The nine-acre site is the site of a former Victorian tile works, and the company is in the process of demolishing old buildings and laying down new foundations for the plant. TEG also plan to develop a further two acres.
The facility should be ready in 12 months' time to begin processing around 50,000 tonnes of compost each year. It will accept both garden waste and commercial or domestic food waste – including animal by-products – turning the material it into compost for use by local farmers and gardeners.

TEG will be installing its Silo-Cage in-vessel composting system, which uses vertical chambers in which organic waste is composted over a 14-day period. Michael Fishwick, director at TEG, described the technology as a “cutting edge, superior system” which he said was “environmentally attractive” since the process generates its own heat sufficient to treat animal by-products.
Mr. Fishbourne said of the involvement of his financial backers: “Bank of Scotland has an active interest in the recycling and composting sector and we are very pleased they supported our project as it shows they have confidence in TEG.”
Peter Leonard, Director at Bank of Scotland Corporate in Liverpool, added: “Strict recycling targets have come into force in recent years and TEG Environmental is leading the way in meeting these targets. Bank of Scotland Corporate was delighted to get involved with a company that is passionate about providing large scale and efficient recycling services across the country.”
TEG Environmental already operates two of its in-vessel plants – its pilot facility in Preston and another facility in Scotland. The company is also building plants in Swansea and Norfolk, and has just gained planning permission for a site in Somerset (see letsrecycle.com story).
The new plant in Lancashire will also provide compost for football clubs in the area, and TEG has supplied Manchester United and Wigan with compost for their pitches in the past.
