Dr. Beanes being held captive by the British was the incident that led to Francis Scott Key being held offshore of Fort McHenry and writing a poem that became the Star Spangled Banner.
Each day I receive what is called "Informed Delivery" from the US Postal Service. They scan the mail and send us an email of what mail to expect each day. I am not sure why I received Matthew's mail photo but it never showed up in the mailbox. Not sure if this is the same Matthew Podmore, but comical, just the same: vimeo.com/269974403
I'm hoping in my lifetime Kroger will accept these cards back to recycle as WalMart and Burger King says they do. The Extended Stay America hotel chain donates $1 for every hotel key returned to the American Cancer Society through their "Hotel Keys of Hope" program. www.extendedstayamerica.com/acs-partnership Hopefully others will follow suit.
Kroger does not offer the luxury or have the capability to "recharge" their cards without physically going into their stores, which is quite unfortunate. Unless one brings their own wheelchair or rides one of their shopping buggies, there is nowhere for elderly or severely disabled customers (who can still walk and still have legs) to sit and wait for assistance.

This beautiful tract of real estate consisting of a hundred-acre grassy sloped area with beautifully landscaped grounds is meticulously maintained by one man. Just one. Today he was spreading fertilizer across the course of the property. It does take him one day or so to cut the grass (with only one riding mower). One man, one truck, one lawn tractor. That is all. He is good.
