I got an awesome opportunity this weekend to hike with some fellow "gorge rats" to the entrance of the Linville Gorge, known as Goodman's Bottoms. This area is known for its fields filled with daffodils in the springtime, and for the historic homestead that once existed in the fields. Shortoff Mountain, the welcoming rock face sitting at the entrance of the gorge, looms in the background with the Linville River winding it's way towards the gorge alongside.
Being able to hike here is truly a privilege and once-in-a-lifetime event since it's on private property. I can say that I was truly blessed to take part in this hike, not knowing if I'll get the same opportunity again. Thank you again to my friend Mark Houser, Josh Spurlin, Denise Bishop, Wigg Faulkner, and all of the other "gorge rats" who love our backyard wilderness so much and who so graciously invited me along. Until next time, enjoy my take on the first signs of spring from the Linville Gorge! I'll post some video soon, so stay tuned! What I do when visiting a Buddhist temple in Thailand:
1. Dress appropriately
2. No hats!
3. Sankrit/Thai prayer to each Buddha
4. Money donation (we give food/daily items donation to monks during their daily morning walks in the marketplace)
5. Relax for 5 seconds before the rest of your family/relatives decide to leave and you have 5 minutes for travel photography 😂
6/7 | Thanksgiving break is almost here. One more day of class and I'll have my break. Going to class today was so hard knowing that break is just 2 days away. Looking at the bright side, weather was amazing today so that's good.
“No changing of place at a hundred miles an hour will make us one whit stronger, happier, or wiser. There was always more in the world than men could see, walked they ever so slowly; they will see it no better for going fast. The really precious things are thought and sight, not pace”

"What we find exotic abroad may be what we hunger for in vain at home" —The Art of Travel by Alain de Botton
4/7 | Late for my 4th picture. Started the day late aka evening aka 7pm. In the picture is my favorite lens that I have owned so far (possibly forever), the Sigma 35mm f/1.4. Through the lens, you can see what I've been up to all night. Not much has been done other than sitting in front of my PC going through some pictures and assignments, and watching YouTube and kdramas. Picture was shot with the 50mm f/1.8, one of my least used lenses and it's starting to grow on me. Looking forward to more amazing pictures with this lens.

A candid shot taken near to the Fountain of Neptune and close to the Piazza Maggiore. This area is a fascinating part of Bologna. The city is an interesting and vibrant place. With its arched colonnades, cafes and medieval buildings it’s a great place to explore.

The word "travel" comes from the Old French word "travail" (or "travailler"), which means "to work, to labor; a suffering or painful effort, an arduous journey, a tormenting experience." ("Travel," thus, is "a painful and laborious journey").
Whereas "to wander" comes from the West Germanic word "wandran," which simply means "to roam about." There is no labor or torment in "wandering." There is only "roaming."
Wandering is the activity of the child, the passion of the genius; it is the discovery of the self, the discovery of the outside world, and the learning of how the self is both "at one with" and "separate from" the outside world.
These discoveries are as fundamental to the soul as "learning to survive" is fundamental to the body. These discoveries are essential to realizing what it means to be human. To wander is to be alive.”
