Stephen B. Whatley also has a history of painting portraits from life in a single sitting and his many portrait sitters in the past 30 years include actors of stage and screen such as Frances Barber, Elizabeth Dawn MBE, Dame Judi Dench, Susan Hampshire OBE, Dame Siân Phillips CBE, Alison Steadman OBE, Dame Julie Walters, Barbara Young, Carol Royle, Virginia McKenna OBE, , Finty Williams & Dame Barbara Windsor; TV presenter Sarah Greene; comedienne & writer Jo Brand; Veuve Clicquot Businesswoman of the Year, Patsy Bloom; entrepreneur, Ivan Massow; fashion designer, Matthew Williamson; and barrister, Michael Mansfield QC.

In 2000 Whatley was commissioned to paint a series of 30 paintings for the Tower of London - all of which are permanently reproduced outside Tower Hill Station, throughout Tower Hill Underpass, as a permanent vibrant art exhibit welcoming visitors to the Tower of London.

In 2004 Stephen B. Whatley was presented to HM Queen Elizabeth II and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh at a reception at the Tower of London, in recognition of his work.

Revlon's Vintage Fire & Ice campaign was the inspiration for this outfit. Sure, they did it better, but if Revlon was making Barbie clothes, I'm sure their "Lets Dance" dress would look like this.

This little lad was dancing to the music of some street performers on the market square in Cambridge. It wasn't long before more people were watching him than were watching the musicians!

When I saw this little creature, it reminded me of the song from David Bowie "Let's Dance".

This is the last part of this song lyrics:

Let's dance put on your red shoes

and dance the blues

Let's dance to the song

they're playin' on the radio

Let's sway you could look into my eyes

Let's sway under the moonlight,

this serious moonlight

and, Iggy Pop's version 1991.

"China Girl" is a song which was co-written by Iggy Pop and David Bowie during their years in Berlin, first appearing on Pop's album The Idiot. However, it was not popularized until it was released by Bowie on his album Let's Dance. Bowie decided to put the song on his album when Pop, his old friend and musical collaborator, was in financial straits and was close to facing bankruptcy. Bowie decided to release the song on Let's Dance so that Pop could collect half the royalties (as co-writer of the track) and get back on his feet financially.

Touch me with your golden touch… Let your light Glide across my face… Let your sweet golden ambers of the light find its way to my heart… for you are my lady… Wrap your golden arms around me… lift me… to heights of rapture… Then let me float back to where I was born… My Puerto Rico… Love me as I Love you… My Puerto Rico…

2008. Worst year of my existence. So many awful things. Lots of tears. Loss.

I was going to write about all bad things, being the Debbie Downer I've become lately, but I decided to focus on the highlights of 2008.

I will always remember 2008 for the year that sparked my love for photography, and I am thankful for that. I bought my camera in March, a huge investment being the frugal person I am normally, but I'm so glad I did! I started my 365ing in August, another thing I am thankful for. I have learned so much, as it has sparked my creativity, and made my Photoshop skills much better. I have so many new friends, and some I now talk to daily outside of Flickr. We always have such fun conversations. I will remember Flickr as a bright spot in my dark 2008.

Thank you for all your kind and loving words. I look forward to getting to know you all much better in 2009.

I feel like I'm a little all over the place and I guess that my latest doll clothes kinda reflect that.

Fred Astaire’s best-known dance partner was Ginger Rogers. They danced together in a total of 10 films beginning with “Flying Down to Rio” in 1933 and ending with “The Barkleys of Broadway” in 1949. As was said many times, "Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did but backwards and in heels."

Fred Astaire continued dancing in the movies until 1968. He partnered with many other female celebrities, including Jane Powell in “Royal Wedding” (1951), Leslie Caron in “Daddy Long Legs” (1955), Audrey Hepburn in “Funny Face” (1957), Judy Garland in “Easter Parade” (1948), Rita Hayworth in “You Were Never Lovelier” (1942), Cyd Charisse in “The Band Wagon” (1953), Betty Hutton in “Let’s Dance” (1950), and Petula Clark in “Finian’s Rainbow” (1968) – Fred Astaire’s last dance in a movie.

Betty Hutton was billed above Fred Astaire in "Let's Dance." She was a major star by 1950 and had just played Annie Oakley in the smash hit "Annie Get Your Gun." She was funny, wild and full of energy.

"If you say run, I'll run with you

If you say hide, we'll hide

Because my love for you

Would break my heart in two

If you should fall

Into my arms

And tremble like a flower" - M. Ward, Let's Dance (David Bowie cover)

I seem to collect this fabric when I find it as a remnant so I figured I better use some of it. It's a gorgeous pumpkin color with antique gold polka dots. I had hoped to find a gold fabric that worked, but no luck, so I went dark brown instead...
