Here's my "save the best till the last" photo, I hope it's not a letdown to you!
This was the moment that I wished I had the 12mm with me.
Enjoy your day!
PS: No decent sunrise for a while as the next 6 days shall be foggy/rainy, and getting colder by the day, even down to 28F at one night!
Se fossimo più consapevoli che si può perdere tutto in un secondo, ci sarebbe molta meno cattiveria intorno a noi.

Ok a bit late, but I enjoyed having one extra day with family on the 26th. This song was so cute.
I truly hope you all had an amazing Christmas as we now prep for the New Year!
🎼: Day After Christmas ~ Mathew West~
✈️ : Le Monde Perdue Winter 2022
Here comes the letdown Christmas is over
Here comes the meltdown, there goes the cheer
But before we have a breakdown, let us remember
The light of the world is still here
Happy day after Christmas
And merry rest of the year
Even when Christmas is over
The light of the world is still here
The light of the world
Come January I’m ready for summer
The Super Bowl’s over and I’ll settle for spring
Sometimes we all need a change in the weather
But it won’t change the reason we sing
Happy day after Christmas
And merry rest of the year
Even when Christmas is over
The light of the world is still here
The light of the world
The light of the world
The light of the world
So take down the stockings, take back the sweaters
Take down the lights and the star and the tree
But don’t let this world take your joy after Christmas
Take joy to the world and just sing
Happy day after Christmas
And merry rest of the year
Even when Christmas is over
The light of the world is still here
The light of the world is still here
She was excited about this place because it was featured on Diners, Driveins and Dives but it did not deliver. This was one of the most disappointing eating experiences for her. The food was pretty much terrible. Tasteless, cold and unappealing. Unfortunately, I'm used to food letdowns since my stay here in Indiana. Never again.
We're off to Devon today, staying at a beachfront apartment in Westward Ho! so I'll have to see if I get chance to try out a new bit of coast in amongst all the family Christmas duties ;))) I'll miss the cliffs and beaches of South Wales, but I'd love to go to Hartland or Blackchurch if I get chance :) Westward Ho! Massive Letdown is bt Half Man Half Biscuit, let's hope it's not :)
I had to make this shot quickly because I was illegally parked in front of the Falls! So I quickly ran to the railing where some nice Indian couple asked me to take their picture ☺️. I think they were newlyweds.
I managed to take a few pictures with my Canon! But ran back to my car to grab my Nikon to take a couple more pictures! Meanwhile, Justin is sitting in the car waiting for me this whole time! Friday was a snow day because of the shitty snowstorm we had!
Total letdown! Anyway, it was fun taking the pictures!

You don't know the hell I've been through
You don't know the price I've paid
You can't see the walls I'm bracing, time I'm facing, all my days
Every bit of man I once was
Every bit of love that I could have
Living in a moment, setting into motion, all the other fear I had
Nobody help me
I'm not cold, I'm empty
Somebody heal me, hold me, make me know me, hate me
No one can love me
Inside my lonely
Someone won't feel me, show me, make me know me, I'm not safe
You don't know the hell I've been through
You don't know the price I've paid
You can't see the walls I'm bracing, time I'm facing, all my days
Every bit of man I once was
Every bit of love that I could have
Living in a moment, setting into motion, all the other fear I had
I can't compel me
My mind won't stop me
It wants to fail me, hail me, let me carry, help me
And this is my misery
It wants to kill me
It's in my memory, but I'm shaking when it fails me
You don't know the hell I've been through
You don't know the price I've paid
You can't see the walls I'm bracing, time I'm facing, all my days
Every bit of man I once was
Every bit of love that I could have
Living in a moment, setting into motion, all the other fear I had
Take it from me, I've taken a week to feel free
Never a thing, I don't know a thing to fix me
Stuck in my head now
Get me the hell out
Life is a game I don't wanna play, it played me
Lost in my ways, I'm lost and afraid and angry
Nobody help me
I'm not cold, I'm empty
You don't know the hell I've been through
You don't know the price I've paid
You can't see the walls I'm bracing, time I'm facing, all my days
'Empty' ~Letdown.~
Taken at The Hollow Land.
I was very letdown most of the morning since I was sure than I wouldn't be able to capture the Kingfisher. I remember I said about an hour before I captured it that I'll never be able to photograph it. Looks like I've been proven wrong once again.
I had planned to post a few shots from Wistman's Wood on Dartmoor this week but last weeks visit was a bit of a letdown and I ended up deleting all of my shots.
So Here's one from a wander up Afon Llloer when we were in Snowdonia in November, this is the classic view looking towards Tryfan, which to me looks a bit like the sorting hat from Harry Potter.
This was a fun afternoon with the guys and I think we all got the shots we wanted despite it being grey and overcast.
Now I can't sleep though I have tried
You branded my soul
With a touch that's here to stay
Now I'm makin' blue sky memories
You're the one who finally got to me
I tried to resist
But your kiss blew me away
Every fear, every letdown
Every painful memory
Fades away when I'm with you
Every high, every low
Every late night drinkin' alone
Swearin' I would never love again
Baby, you got under my skin
Yesterday evening I ventured to Sutton Harbour in Plymouth, I was planning on a trip up to Bristol but didn't really have time, so I stayed local instead.
The sunset was looking promising but in the end, it was a bit of a letdown, a huge bank of low cloud came rolling in covering the high cloud but it gave me a good chance to get some nice movement with a two minute long exposure.
The sky was still fairly blue so at least there was some colour.
Sing's " You don't know the hell I've been through
You don't know the price I've paid
You can't see the walls I'm bracing
Time I'm facing, all my days
Every bit of man I once was
Every bit of love that I could have
Living in a moment, setting into motion
All the other fear I had
Nobody help me
I'm not cold, I'm empty "
Then looks your way, " You see, I have nothing left to lose. It's either you or me. Either way. .. One or both of us aren't leaving this place alive. "

Just moments before his appearance, I was very letdown and a bit discouraged because I thought I wouldn't be able to capture the Kingfisher. There was only one hour left, so it was now or never.
I love this superb headland at Monknash, and I particularly like Black and White to emphasise it's dramatic beauty! Even though it looks a bit Sphynx like, I've chosen Westward Ho Massive
Letdown by Half Man Half Biscuit, mainly because this points west, and the track came on while I was uploading it!!
A Harrier pilot from VMA-211 'Avengers' practicing shipboard landings at Yuma Aux Field 2 in preparation for a MEU deployment aboard the USS Makin Island back in 2014.
Trachymene is a genus in the family Araliaceae. The species are native to Australia, Malesia, New Caledonia and Fiji. Trachymene pilosa mainly occurs in the southwest of Western Australia. Sometimes looking through a macro lens makes you feel like being in a different world. These buds looked like something that could be growing on a coral reef. After the colourful buds the small white flowers are a bit of a letdown. florabase.dbca.wa.gov.au/browse/profile/6280
Originally for the onion family theme back in April. I liked the concept but always thought the image was a little on the flat side. To upgrade the shot this time round I put a sheet of coloured paper under the spoon to add some extra colour, used a different piece of cutlery that has a thicker edge and shot it from a hopefully more dynamic angle. Only letdown for me is the garlic modelling on the spoon lacks charisma!
Not a usual Christmas shot, but the theme gets what the theme wants!
Banking over me during the solo display. Rehearsals for the Open Day at Baza 95 Aeriană Erou Căpitan Aviator Alexandru Șerbănescu Bacău. This nimble little aircraft is a Romanian-made trainer with excellent flying qualities. Its only letdown is the underpowered Rolls-Royce Viper engine.

One of the permanent features in my garden is a small pod of water lilies that bloom all year round, attracting a steady stream of visitors - mostly from these sting-less bees.
I love photographing these little bees, they are quite tolerant of my presence, going about their routine without any fuss, and generally posing well for my shots. The only thing that might be a bit of a letdown is that they don't have any markings or features that make them standout - they're just black all over, and are quite small too.
Thus, the only good photos are when they are contrasted against a strong light colored background so they don't look that boring and featureless.
A wet walk into Evercreech Falls. The falls were a letdown, lucky the view of the rivulet along the way made up for it.
Crossing over from Main Track 1 to Main Track 2 at Craig on the BNSF Emporia Sub is BNSF train Y-KCK1221-01I returning to BNSF's Argentine Yard with a decent number of cars from Gardner. Though I was hoping to see that pair of Geep's leading the train, having a "Goat Boat" Heritage I Dash 9 on the point wasn't too big of a letdown. Could definitely be worse, I guess. 5/1/22.
Sometimes my mother would lie.
This shoe has been out in Maude Street, for over 30 years, and l cannot remember a day in my entire life, when this shoe was not out on display.
When l was a child l used to ask her, who would wear it, this enormous shoe, and she would say a very big person, or a giant, straight to my face.
She lied. : )
Me being me, l believed her emphatically.
Later when l was older, l think she may have felt embarrassed by my questions, and my belief in her, and or been bored with the, “…are we there yet..." repetition of asking who would wear it.
One day she told me that it was just for promotion, and that no one wore it.
It wasn’t like when the nasty kid at primary school, told me Santa wasn’t real, making me cry.
And l didn’t feel as letdown, as Barry my Dad’s friend was, when at the SPC, (Shepparton Preserving Company) Christmas party, l called him by his first name, while he played Santa.
Don’t tell anyone, Dad told me to.
The largest of the falls in Dogwood Canyon. I have ta admit it was a huge letdown to learn that all of the waterfalls in Dogwood Canyon are man-made.
One of the classic views from Dinorwic Quarry, Electric Mountain is the First Hydro Company's visitor centre.
It's an impressive sight and with the backdrop of the Snowdon range, it really makes for a fantastic view.
I didn't get to do a tour of the power station when I was here, to be honest, I didn't really know what this place was until I'd got back home and started researching more. The tour of the power station does look like a great thing to do though, and I think I'd do one next time I go up.
This photo is a five shot pano, to get the whole of the scene in. Taken later in the afternoon just before sunset, the evening light hitting the tops of the mountains looked gorgeous, although the sunset was a bit of a letdown, with some hazy low cloud coming through the valley and obscuring the mountains.

Looking southeast at Death Valley from Aguereberry Point (6283 ft, 1915 m) in the Panamint Mountains. Badwater Basin, the lowest point in North America at -282 ft (-86 m), is to the left. The peak at center is Smith Mountain, 5915 ft, 1803 m.
“Bonestell [painted landscapes of the Moon] ringed with rough, jagged peaks towering above the plains, similar to the barren landscape of Death Valley in his native California.
“[But the unexpected] smoothness of the lunar mountains became evident when Apollo 15 went to the Moon in 1971. To the disappointment of many, Bonestell’s vision of rugged, craggy peaks … gave way to an undramatic, smooth, undulating terrain, so bland that it was difficult to gain any perspective on distance. The sense of letdown among space buffs was widespread and illustrated most dramatically in a 1990 painting by David Hardy entitled ‘The Way It Should Have Been’ …”

Lowry Theatre, Salford Quays
A Friday evening visit to the Quays to see Lightwaves 2017 with fellow Flickrites - Eddie Coulson and Mark Dixon turned out to be a bit of an anticlimax as this year's installations proved to be a bit of a letdown. However, the Quays at night never fails to deliver its own spectacle, but an hour in the freezing wind blowing up the basin had us packing up and heading for somewhere to eat.
I hadn't really looked at the images in detail until today, and besides it's been a long time since I posted a night time shot... in fact it's been that long they've built the new Alchemist bar and restaurant. That funny shape to the left of the Lowry Theatre that now blocks the Detroit Bridge.
After shooting all red consists the year prior, this set of GP9s on the Connell Turn was a bit of a letdown.

It was a beautiful let down
When you found me here
Yeah for once in a rare blue moon I see everything clear
I'll be a beautiful let down
That's what I'll forever be
And though it may cost my soul
I'll sing for free
We're still chasin our tails and the rising sun
And our dark water planet's
Still spinning in a race
Where no one wins and no one's one
I don't belong here
I don't belong here
I'm gonna set sight and set sail for the kingdom come
I will carry a cross and a song where I don't belong
But i don't belong
I don't belong here
I don't belong here
Kingdom come
Your kingdom come
With what must be one of the harshest bird songs out there, it is a little bit of a letdown as you look upon a Yellow Headed Blackbird.

After shifting over to mirrorless, I have been planning to travel to the beautiful trona pinnacles to check out the system's ability to perform at night. When everyone else switched to mirrorless cameras, my biggest worry was composing through the viewfinder. The one time I rented a camera to test out, night photography was a big letdown. My initial plan to visit the Trona Pinnacles during new moon night fell through for a couple of months due to unforeseen circumstances. So when I finally got an opportunity to head out, I jumped at the chance even though I would have to figure out a way t shoot with a fairly bright moon in the night sky.
We reached well before sunset, and I even had to check out various compositions before settling in at a spot. The bright ambient light was the first thing I noticed as the stars rose over us. Once my eye got used to the dark, I didn’t need a headlight to find my way. That’s how bright it was that night. I started by putting my z9 in red text more and switching on starlight mode. These settings blew me away. I could see through the viewfinder like a night vision camera in starlight mode. I could move around and recompose without any issues. Also, since the camera displayed all the text on the screen in red light, my night vision was never compromised. Using the camera was indeed a pleasurable experience, even though the bright moon stole some contrast from the Milkyway core. I was delighted to get out after a while and can’t wait to return.
Last weekend saw the annual Pirate Weekend on Plymouth Barbican. It's a fun event, with loads of people dressed up as pirates, shows and music. Unfortunately, I was at work for all of it, but on Sunday morning I got up for sunrise and headed down to get a couple of shots of the two tall ships that were berthed alongside.
It's always nice to see these ships in The Barbican, it's like it's been transformed to how it looked hundreds of years ago when this sort of scene was just another normal day.
This is The Grayhound, the first lugger to be built in over 200 years, it's a fine ship and was built between 2010-2012 in Millbrook, Cornwall.
With clear sky, the sunrise itself was a bit of a letdown but I still came away with a couple of shots of the gorgeous ships.

In typical Connecticut fashion, the day started sunny but clouds moved in by late morning, so the predicted forecast for “mostly sunny” did not prove to be, at least for this shot. Metro-North train 1916 with P32AC-DM 230 sporting its New Haven colors and Penn Central black worm logos under the engineer's window heads for the Brass City. The train is passing some bleak foliage in Beacon Falls on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. Aside from not having many sunny days, this year's foliage has been another letdown. Nonetheless, it’s always nice to see New Haven McGinnis colors rolling along the 27-mile Waterbury Branch.

In the shallow breath of morning,
you are the ghost of coffee steam
curling into the cold indifference of the air.
We are nothing more than fragile whispers
in a crowded room,
treading on the ice of silent words
and softer letdowns.
This love,
too lean,
feeds on the crumbs of could-be’s,
starved for more than the touch
of fingertips brushing
accidentally
on purpose.
You are the half-light of winter dawn,
a flickering candle in the vast dark,
each moment with you
is a careful dance,
steps measured in the careful cadence
of unsaid things.
We are an unfinished poem,
lines broken,
rhymes unsettled,
a reluctant pulse echoing
in the hollows of our almosts.
Yet we linger here,
in the thin hope of what might,
drawing breath from a love
that never quite fills the lungs,
always yearning,
perpetually held
in the ache of almost

Scottish Parliament Building, Edinburgh
I had a write-up planned but you have no idea how long it has taken me to process this!
Thanks to INNES for his insight into this building... it saves me the hassle of researching it myself. However, I will say that I found it a bit of a letdown. I'm all for favour of pushing the boundaries in architecture design but this has over stepped the mark and produced nothing of ground breaking merit. I can see where the cost has done - its quirky features might look good on the designer's computer screen, but someone has to build and manufacture these things!
Just in my image alone there are four distinct window designs, not to mention two different depths. And what is all that cane/pole screening about? But the pièce de résistance has got to be the surrounding walls. But for the quirky interior I would say I visited a prison - tall, ugly, featureless and concaved. In my mind, I think these where an afterthought - maybe for anti-terrorism or bomb blast deflection but still ugly.
This Green-backed Trogon was not too pleased with my photographic efforts.
They typically perch upright and motionless. Although their flight is fast, they are reluctant to fly any distance. Their broad bills and weak legs reflect their diet and arboreal habits. Green-backed trogons feed mainly on small fruit, supplemented by arthropods – slightly more so in the dry season when fruit are scarce, but even then they seems to be among the most frugivorous trogons in their range. They are consequently more rarely seen to attend mixed-species feeding flocks than other trogons.
It is a resident of humid tropical forests, and it typically is the commonest trogon in its range. It nests in a termite nest or a hole in a rotten tree. The nest is usually if not always built by the female which excavates an upward-sloping tunnel ending in a breeding chamber. The nesting season is apparently mainly during the summer months (June–August). The clutch is typically two or three white eggs. These are incubated for 16–17 days, with a further two weeks to fledging. [Wikipedia]
I can remember paddling away from camp in the hopes that some promising clouds would begin to clear as the sun began to set, then feeling disappointed that the desired conditions didn't materialize. Despite the letdown Is still managed to come away with a photo I am very happy with.
