Lesson 4 in Jane's class. I found a really boring choice of flowers at my local grocer and didn't have time to stop at the florist. It was either yellow or purple so I'll try the purple later. There wasn't a lot of color variation in this flower so I took a little liberty of exagerating the green and orange I saw. This flower was missing a few petals so it made me think of the loves me loves me not we all did as kids.

Lesson's Motmot, Momotus lessonii.
I must have taken 50 photos of this bird - it was quite happy to sit there in the forest. Trouble was it was so gloomy under the trees this was the best quality shot I got, even after a lot of software tweaking.

I taught a strobe lesson in Shinjuku, with the help of the talented Youko Sunshine and makeup by Beauty By Alexandre. After we got the makeup on, it went fantastically. Thanks to everyone involved, and especially to David and Tom.
This was at once a different painting, but that painting was wiped away. Wiping off a painting was traumatizing, but one of the greatest lessons I learned in art school. Some times you just have to start over & change your approach.
