Ever wary, this leopard pauses for a drink while guarding her cub and her treed kill from pestering hyaenas. I looked up the GPS location in the Lightroom Map module and this happens to be in an area called "Leopard Gorge" (Maasai Mara, Kenya). How appropriate. From my 2012 Kenya safari.

The classic leopard picture! This leopard disappeared later in a higher and very dense part of the tree, invisible for everyone. So the cars left!

The Amur leopard is considered to be one of the most critically endangered big cats in the world, with roughly 30-40 individuals remaining in the wild. Habitat loss and hunting (for trophies and use in traditional medicines) are the biggest threats to Amur leopards in the wild.

The Amur leopard has been a protected species in Russia since 1956, but poaching is still a problem. Conservation efforts in the wild for these animals include anti-poaching patrols, customs control, fighting forest fires, environmental education programmes and working closely with local communities.

The crocodile went for the leopard with its jaws but fortunately the leopard was fast enough to escape

Harry, the male snow leopard at Stone Zoo in Stoneham, MA.

We saw our only Leopard on the trip sleeping in a tree in Ndutu National Park. The head of an antelope was wedged slightly below. Leopards drag their kills up into trees so that other predators such as Lions and hyenas will not steal them. This Leopard's front legs and tail hung straight down. The enormous paws each have four visible claws, which look like toes covered in leopard skin. The Leopard also has an additional claw on each front foot. Leopards are mostly nocturnal, and we were warned in a couple of places about going out at night.

This image of the leopard was taken in South Africa. He is high in a tree enjoying his Impala capture.
