Maya Bay is a stunningly beautiful bay that's sheltered by 100-metre high cliffs on three sides. Inside the bay there are several beaches, most are small and some only exist at low tide. The main one is around 200 metres long with silky soft white sand, underwater colourful coral and exotic fish in exceptionally clear water; the whole bay is one big reef.
Maya Bay has become the main tourist attraction of Phi Phi since The Beach was filmed here in 1999. It was always very popular before the film but now people around the world who haven't even heard of Phi Phi have certainly heard of Maya Bay.
Twenty-five years ago people could be excused for not knowing much, or doing much, about climate change. Today we have no excuse.

This is not a partisan debate; it is a human one. Clean air and water, and a livable climate are inalienable human rights. And solving this crisis is not a question of politics. It is our moral obligation.

One of the unexpected benefits of our trip to the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve was going through the town of Pawhuska. You probably are asking what is so special about Pawhuska. I did. Well, right now the downtown area has been converted into a movie set for the movie, "Killers of the Flower Moon". They weren't shooting when we were in the area, but it would've been cool to see Leonardo DiCaprio or Robert De Niro on the set.
The film crew took over the downtown area and completely did a make over to the store fronts. Some were just repainted and props were put into the windows. Other business were given a new front like you see in this picture. The equipment on the sidewalk was a set of lights for the filming. I've always been a huge movie buff and this is the first time I've seen a movie location like this one.
The movie is based on a true murder that happened in this community around 100 years ago. I thought it was pretty cool that they actually shot the movie on location where the events really occurred. I know I'm going to watch this one when it comes to theaters.
This Buddha sculpture at CineCitta was made for the film Gangs of New York, with the face designed by Martin Scorsese.
I love Gangs of New York.

A shot from my trip to the Baftas earlier this year. It needed a bit of work to get it looking right.
After we'd taken a lot of photos from up here, we realized Leonardo Di Caprio was right next to us. He was with his grandmother and model friend.

Thailand’s first National Park is also its second largest, and certainly one of its best! Khao Yai National Park spreads to four different provinces with the bulk of its 2,169 square kilometers in Nakhon Ratchasima. The park has a variety of terrains from deciduous forest to savannah and houses some 3,000 species of plant. Wildlife in the park is as varied as its terrain and it is home to around 200 wild elephants. The park also houses tigers, gibbons, bears, deer, bats, wild pigs, and a major bird population including a wide variety of hornbills. The park is 400 metres above sea level and as a result reasonably cool all year round. During the dry season temperatures can drop to 4 degrees Celsius. Because of its cool conditions Khao Yai’s 50 kilometres of hiking trails are a favourite and the park receives a lot of birdwatchers. The park also sports some breathtaking waterfalls and the best time to see them is the rainy season from May to October. 80-metre-high Nam Tok Hew Suwat a particular favorite with visitors and featured in the film with Leonardo DiCaprio The Beach. A great way to explore the park is by trekking or river rafting. Kids love to walk through such tunnels and crossing little streams. It seems they never get tired when walking thru such jungle path.
Photo taken in the Khao Yai National park - Thailand. Today we went on a river rafting expedition but first we went walking through the jungle to reach river starting point. To captured the jungle is quite difficult cause jungle means walking in dark shadows all the time. There's hardly any sunlight and the contrast of darkness and sometimes bright sunlight is very strong. I'm not sure if I succeed but it's always a challenge to bring the jungle feeling I''ve felt to an image. Like walking inside a dark tunnel. This was a bamboo forest.
Jack's pants and boots are a wonderful gift from Jocelyn! Thanks Dear Joce!! I'll show his boots later in a planned shoot with (hopefully) a replica of his shirt. With all my historical figures, I'm sure to have the proper shirt around!!
I've had Jack's head for a couple of years now and this is the 1st time he's been publicly posted. Jocelyn had no idea that I had him ..... but she does now!!
I'm sure I was Titanic's biggest fan. I've made myself almost exact replicas of Rose's 2 main gowns .... and have worn them in public several times too!!
I wanted to do a silly photo for the theme this week.

Closeup of the DVD inside cover art of Gangs of New York.
I recently watched this for the first time in years & I like this film a lot. I like the amount of information Scorsese gives the viewers about different gangs & the political machine going on at the time. Seeing it again now that I'm older I understand a lot more of the politics as well.
The ending is also quite moving. Daniel Day-Lewis is brilliant. I think this is in my top 10 Scorsese films, but barely. He has made many great films.
It is a shame it didn't win any Oscars, because it certainly deserved to win for cinematography & art direction at the very least.

Photo taken in the Khao Yai National park - Thailand. Today it was our last day in Khao Yai National park. A portrait of my son BieJee when he was swimming in the local river.

If you've ever looked at photos of Thailand, chances are you've seen one similar to this. I know this is such a typical shot, but I had to take it nevertheless! This was taken at Maya Bay on Phi Phi Ley island. Apparently this is where the movie "The Beach" with Leonardo Dicaprio was filmed (I've never seen the movie). Although this place is beautiful, it's become a big tourist attraction and was very crowded...I was lucky to get a shot off with no people or speedboats spoiling the view.
