The AIR-2A is an air-to-air anti-aircraft missile. It was designed in 1955 to be used against formations of enemy bombers. It was propelled by a solid fuel rocket motor and had no guidance system. A direct hit by the missile was unnecessary because the "Genie" had a lethal radius of over 1,000 ft. It was carried aloft by the F-89, F-101, or the F-106. The weapon was armed by the pilot and then launched by ground command. Once launched the pilot would immediately maneuver into a tight turn to avoid detonation. The first and only test firing and detonation of the AIR-2A occurred on July 19, 1957 over Yucca Flats, Nevada. It was also the only test detonation of a U.S. nuclear tipped air-to-air missile. Production of the "Genie" ended in 1962 and it remained in the USAF inventory until the mid-1980's.

Park Avenue Trail

Difficulty: Easy.
Description: The Park Avenue Trail is one of the first major attractions within Arches National Park. It is a one-mile trail that follows the bottom of a canyon at the feet of some of the park’s gigantic, and well-known monoliths.
The Three Gossips, the Courthouse Towers, Queen Nefertiti and Queen Victoria Rock, the Organ, and the Tower of Babel are all visible from the road as visitors drive up towards Balanced Rock and Delicate Arch, but there is a large difference in experience when actually hiking through them. All of these natural wonders are famous and oft-photographed.
Park Avenue Trailhead
The lower trailhead is located on the Arches Entrance Road, 2.5 miles north of the visitors center, off to the north side of the road. The parking lot has a paved walkway that heads 320 feet to a Viewpoint. From there, there is a well-worn trail that heads down the Avenue and towards the Courthouse Towers Parking Lot.
The Courthouse Towers
The massive sandstone towers that make up the western background of Park Avenue are called the Courthouse Towers. Like the prows of enormous ships, these landmarks jut out into the desert below, some of them over 600 feet tall.
The Organ
The Organ is a smaller monolith just to the south of the Tower of Babel, off to the right side of the Arches Entrance Road. The Courthouse Towers parking lot sits off to the west flank of the Organ.

This "southwestern style" hunter features an African Blackwood handle with layers of tan and red Micarta© and turquoise for accents. Randy added double black fiber and nickel silver spacers between the layers for added beauty and stability. The CPM 154 blade is mirror polished, as are the nickel silver fittings. A hand-tooled cowhide sheath and zippered storage case are included.
ANSBACH, Germany - German and American civilian employees were honored for 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 years of service to the U.S. Army in a ceremony prior to a Town hall here, Feb. 23 in the Katterbach Theater on Bismark Kaserne.
In total, the honored employees - coupled with those not present at the ceremony - have racked up more than 900 years of service in support of the U.S. Army.
Col. Benjamin Jones, commander of the U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach (USAG Ansbach), speaking to the more than 200 family members, fellow employees and well-wishers as well as the participants, highlighted the importance of the civilian workforce in supporting the Soldiers' missions, and what the many contributions they make to providing stability and quality of life services to service members stationed in the Ansbach and Illesheim communities.
"You're an outstanding credit to USAG Ansbach, and to the U.S. military in Europe." said Jones, "For me, our professional workforce in Ansbach - German and American - truly embodies the tenants of the Army's Civilian Creed: Dedication to our Army, our Soldiers and Civilians; support of the mission; and providing the stability and continuity that enable Soldiers to concentrate on their missions, which is of special importance to Soldiers serving overseas, where so much surrounding them can appear new and unfamiliar when they first arrive in country.
Jones was unstinting in his praise for the awardees. "We would be hard-pressed to complete the Army mission without you. Know that the Soldiers of this community rely on you, appreciate you, and everything you do in support of them, and their families."
Also in attendance were Ansbach Mayor Thomas Deffner and Burgermeister Heinrich Förster from Illesheim who presented certificates to honor the awardees.

Woodland Kingfisher
The woodland kingfisher (Halcyon senegalensis) is a tree kingfisher that is widely distributed in Africa south of the Sahara
This is a medium-sized kingfisher, 23 cm (9.1 in) in length. The adult has a bright blue back, wing panel and tail. Its head, neck and underparts are white, and its shoulders are black. The flight of the woodland kingfisher is rapid and direct. The large bill has a red upper mandible and black lower mandible. The legs and feet are dark grey. Some birds may have greyish heads, causing confusion with mangrove kingfisher.
However, the lores are dark, creating a dark stripe through the eye (the stripe does not extend through the eye in mangrove kingfisher), and the underwing, primaries and secondaries are black with white underwing coverts (there is a black carpal patch on the white coverts in mangrove kingfisher). The inner webs of the base of the flight feathers are white, creating an indistinct white wingbar (white completely absent from wings in mangrove kingfisher). The breast is white (tends to be much greyer in mangrove kingfisher). The sexes are similar, but juveniles are duller than adults and have a brown bill.

This is a 1958 "Field & Stream" Travel Trailer ( canned ham ). This vintage style of camping trailers were referred to as "car trailers" back when they were being built because of their size, light weight and ease of towing. The cabin part of the trailer is 12' long, the tongue is 2' making the total length only 14'. It pulls beautifully going down the highway, no fish tailing at all. You can forget your pulling a trailer.
This trailer is 95% original, no modifications. This trailer has not been restored and I have only made a couple of small repairs. If you are looking for a great platform for making a complete restoration then this would be an absolutely great trailer for such a project.
The interior is all wood, top to bottom and front to back and it is all original wood. I have installed a self-contained 12 volt electrical system and it doesn't need 120 volt. Everything runs off of 12 volts. However all of the original 120 volt wiring is still in place and hasn't been touched, even the original 120v light fixtures are still in place. All of the cabinet hardware is still in place, working and original. All the hinges, handles, and everything is original. The original "icebox" and oven/stove are still in the camper and work great. It also has the original factory installed "Kenmore" cabin heater and it also works great.
When I got the trailer someone had changed the paint scheme so I re-painted it to the original design. The rear couch makes into a double bed. Above the rear couch it has a removable bunk bed/hammock that is original factory equipment also. The dinette also makes into a double bed. There is a lot of storage in the camper. It also has a 10 gallon fresh water tank with a manual hand pump.
The trailer also comes with 2 30 lb propane tanks, a new spare tire and wheel.
The following items are new in the past three months:
New Interior 12 volt light throughout the camper
New 240 watt solar panel
New "Sunforce" 12v, 30 amp charge controller
4 new "Everstart" 750 cold crank amp deep cell marine batteries
New "Cen-Tech" 1500 watt continuous , 3000 surge 120v power inverter (for microwave, etc.)

New manual water pump for sink

This is one great little camper. I bought it for hunting plus the nostalgia. It was used this past hunting season and worked great. However with four adult men it was a little cramped. So I plan to up size for next year. I pulled it off road in BLM land in Teller County and down in the Phantom Canyon area and had no problems at all.

So unlike most trailers you see of this vintage you will not have a problem with registration and it will be registered as a "Field and Stream" not a home-made trailer as is usually the case with trailers bought without a title.

Vitis rotundifolia, or Muscadine or Scuppernong Grape, photographed on the Natchez Trace Parkway in Mississippi, is a grapevine species native to the southeastern and south-central United States from Florida to Delaware, west to eastern Texas and Oklahoma. It has been extensively cultivated since the 16th century. The plants are well adapted to their native warm and humid climate.
Muscadine berries may be bronze or dark purple or black when ripe. However, many wild varieties stay green through maturity. Muscadines have skin sufficiently thick and tough that eating the raw fruit is similar to eating a plum and may be an acquired taste. Muscadines are typically used in making artisan wines, juice, and jelly.
Muscadine is a vigorous, high-climbing or prostrate (lying flat on the ground.) deciduous vine, sometimes reaching lengths in excess of 90 feet. Large leaves are round and shiny with broad, blunt teeth. Shiny, purple-black to bronze berries ripen in September and October and fall promptly. The bark of this wild grape is not exfoliating.
In a natural setting, muscadines are important plants for improving wildlife habitat by providing cover, browse, and fruit for a wide variety of animals.
