Every autumn I enjoy walking around with my camera looking at the fall colours. Leaves change colour in the fall, because of changes in the length of daylight and changes in temperature at night. Small leaves from a tree or bush which have the mixture of red, pink, purple, orange and yellow colours grabbed my attention. Because of being different is great, but it is hard. People know that.

The Chapel on the Rock (officially, Saint Catherine of Siena Chapel) is a tourist landmark in Allenspark, Colorado, USA. The chapel is located on the grounds of the Saint Malo Retreat, Conference, and Spiritual Center of the Catholic Archdiocese of Denver which has been closed since November 2011.
In 1999 Boulder County designated the chapel as a historic site.
Pope Saint John Paul II prayed at the chapel during his visit to Denver for World Youth Day in 1993; he blessed the chapel afterwards. The pope later hiked in the surrounding woods and spent some time at the Saint Malo Retreat Center.
In November 2011 the Chapel on the Rock was spared from a devastating fire that destroyed a majority of the retreat center, forcing it to close its doors.
During the rock slides of September 2013 the Chapel on the Rock survived, though much of the surrounding terrain was destroyed

This is the split rail fence that borders a portion of the Mill Valley Dog Park and is probably the most colorful fence you'll find anywhere, with lichen growing along its entire length.
I don't know what Flickr has done with the EXIF data, but I set the aperture at f22 for this shot, in order to get the entire length of the fence in sharp focus. Whatever Flickr's problem is, I hope they fix it soon because, whenever I see an interesting image, I immediately check the EXIF data to see how the shot was accomplished, and I really miss not having it.

The White-browed Shrike-babbler (Pteruthius flaviscapis) is a small bird found in the Himalayas and parts of Southeast Asia - its a beautiful bird and a target of mine for a long time - never managed to see it before till my trip few weeks ago.
Around 12-13 cm in length with a distinctive plumage and a bold white eyebrow stripe, dark crown and ear coverts, and a bright yellow or yellowish-green wing patch, the male is easy bird to identify since there are few birds like this. These birds are primarily found in montane forests, often in dense undergrowth. I sighted several in a pine forest foraging in the dark canopy and waited more than 90 mins for them to come to a spot where I can take some pictures - luckily they did and I am delighted!
These birds are active foragers, gleaning insects and other invertebrates from foliage and branches. The calls are typically high-pitched and thin, often described as a series of whistles or trills.
Shrike-babbler's are a different species altogether - neither shrikes nor babblers. Their name comes from their shrike-like bill and babbler-like behavior.
Thanks in advance for your views and feedback. Much appreciated.
A brightly coloured bird, the golden-browed chlorophonia is distinctive within its range. The male is bright green above and yellow below, with a wide golden-yellow eyebrow stripe and a violet-blue cap. It has a narrow blue eye ring and a thin blue line extending from its nape to its breast. The female is similar, but without the golden brown and yellow breast; these are both replaced with green. They average 13 cm (5.1 in) in length.

The American alligator (Alligator mississippiensis), sometimes referred to colloquially as a gator or common alligator, is a large crocodilian reptile endemic to the Southeastern United States. It is one of two living species in the genus Alligator within the family Alligatoridae.
Adult male American alligators measure 11.2 to 15.1 ft in length and can weigh up to (999 lb). Females are smaller, measuring (8.5 to 9.8 ft) in length.
The American alligator inhabits freshwater wetlands, such as marshes and cypress swamps from Texas to southeastern and coastal North Carolina.
American alligators are apex predators and consume fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals. Hatchlings feed mostly on invertebrates. – Wikipedia

The Malagasy giant chameleon or Oustalets's chameleon (Furcifer oustaleti ) is a very large species of chameleon which is endemic to Madagascar. It occurs in a wide range of habitats, even among degraded vegetation within villages, but is relatively rare in primary forest.
With a maximum total length (including tail) of 68.5 cm (27 in), F. oustaleti is considered the largest species of chameleon, but that claim is occasionally contested by the Parsons chameleon Calumma parsonii as the Parsons tends to be more heavily built but slightly shorter in length. Their diet includes invertebrates such as large insects. Prey is acquired with a long, muscular tongue. – Wikipedia
Length 8 to 11 mm. The thorax is foxy brown on top; the abdomen is black, except for the rear end, which is foxy brown again. The male is much smaller than the female and its hairs are much lighter colour, tending to grey or even white.
Habitat around potential nesting sites such as gardens, playgrounds, sports fields, paths and the sides of roads.
Females are often seen nesting alone, but groups of females do occur, even though these groups are never very big.
Seen March-June.

Ruby-crowned Kinglets are olive-green birds with a prominent white eyering and white wingbar. This wingbar contrasts with an adjacent blackish bar in the wing. The “ruby crown” of the male is only occasionally visible.
These are restless, acrobatic birds that move quickly through foliage, typically at lower and middle levels. They flick their wings almost constantly as they go.

Young Lambs
The spring is coming by a many signs;
The trays are up, the hedges broken down,
That fenced the haystack, and the remnant shines
Like some old antique fragment weathered brown.
And where suns peep, in every sheltered place,
The little early buttercups unfold
A glittering star or two--till many trace
The edges of the blackthorn clumps in gold.
And then a little lamb bolts up behind
The hill and wags his tail to meet the yoe,
And then another, sheltered from the wind,
Lies all his length as dead--and lets me go
Close bye and never stirs but baking lies,
With legs stretched out as though he could not rise.

Wood Storks are large birds, both large bodied and with large wingspans. Their length is about 40 to 44 inches (1-1.4m) with a wingspan of about 5.5 feet (1.7m).
They are the only stork native to North America and have a range primarily in Florida and Georgia. They are sometimes found in adjoining States.
Their long black legs end in pink feet and pink toes.
Sandhill Crane,
Between 34 to 48 inches in length with a wingspan of nearly 7 feet. They are very tall with a long neck and long legs. Largely gray with a red forehead. Juveniles browner with no red on head. Plumage often appears a rusty color because of iron stains from water of ponds or marshes.
They inhabit large freshwater marshes, prairie ponds and marshy tundra. They are also on prairies and grain fields during migration and in winter.
They range from Siberia and Alaska east across arctic Canada to the Hudson Bay and south to western Ontario. There are isolated populations in the Rocky Mountians, northern prairies, and the Great Lakes region along with in Mississippi, Georgia and Florida. They winter in California's Central Valley and across the southern states from Arizona to Florida. They can also be found in Cuba.

The nuthatch is a plump bird about the size of a great tit that resembles a small woodpecker. It is blue-grey above and whitish below, with chestnut on its sides and under its tail. It has a black stripe on its head, a long black pointed bill and short legs.
It breeds throughout England and Wales and has recently began to breed in southern Scotland. It is a resident, with birds seldom travelling far from the woods where they hatch.
The Provence Canal and the city of Signes in the Var
Aerial photo of the canal taken in Signes: Located at the foot of the Sainte Baume massif, SIGNES is the most wooded commune of the Var. Its 11,000 ha of forests are a paradise for hunters and hikers.
Five minutes from the prestigious Castellet circuit, SIGNES deserves the name of sports resort: hiking, horse riding and mountain biking.
It is also a remarkable paragliding site. A rich and tumultuous history is legible through the streets and monuments of the village: Church of the XIth century, Tower of the Clock, Houses of the XVth century, Chapels, Oratories, Fountain witches ...
The town of Signes is part of the Community of Agglomeration of South Sainte Baume.
The Canal de Provence is a regional hydraulic structure that contributes to serving, mainly raw water, collected in the Verdon, 116 communes of Bouches-du-Rhône and Var including Aix-en-Provence, Marseille, Toulon, a total population of 3,000,000. It irrigates 80,000 hectares of agricultural land and supplies more than 8,000 industrial sites in the region. With a length of nearly 270 km, including 140 underground, the canal was designed and built progressively on the basis of an initial schema that changed very little, from the 1960s, and has for thirty years avoided the effects drought in the departments served, thus contributing to their economic development.
Historically, the Provençaux have made every effort to make the most of the Durance and its main tributary, the Verdon, to produce electricity and supply sufficient water for agglomerations, irrigation and industry. Since 1854, the Durance feeds the Canal de Marseille which supplies two-thirds of the water needs of the city, and since 1868, the Verdon supplies the plain of Aix.
If thanks to these channels, Marseille and its region did not experience any shortage of drinking water, the rural parts of Provence continued to suffer from a chronic lack of water. After the Second World War, under the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture, the departments of Bouches-du-Rhône and Var, as well as the City of Marseille were willing to free Provence from this water shortage that it limited its possibilities of development.
In 1957, the Canal Company of Provence (SCP) was created with the mission of transferring the waters of the Verdon through the difficult terrain of the region by building the Canal de Provence. The SCP still manages the Bimont Dam today
The investments were financed half by loans and half by grants from the State, the Region, the Departments, Europe and the Water Agency.
