Lena Lakes are within easy weekend striking distance of our hometown, which is the state capital, so we were expecting at least moderate crowds despite our visiting during weekdays. As it turned out the first few miles to Lower Lena Lake (which frankly is not much of a destination) had plenty of people and dogs and no wildlife. But after that the wide and well-switchbacked "horse trail" grows steeper and narrower, more like a "goat trail." Somewhere in this stretch you enter the Olympic National Park and dogs are prohibited. By the time we arrived at the lake it was very quiet; there were no more than two other tents in the area either of the nights we camped there.
The trail behind the lake--to Scout Lake and beyond--was still mostly snow covered and appeared to have had no foot traffic that season. We saw deer and bear and marmot and had a great day exploring to some unnamed tarns in more remote places. One thing we did not see was mountain goats, and this was connected to the one real nuisance of the trip, the park's goat removal campaign, begun a few years ago. Several times we were buzzed by a helicopter looking for mountain goats, which are native to the Cascades but not the Olympics. Upper Lena Lake (4550'), Olympic National Park, Washington.

Lena und Jonas zusammen zubringen, war ziemlich einfach.
Damals lebte mein Vater noch und Jonas hat nachts bei ihm geschlafen. Morgens, kam er dann zu Lena und mir nach oben.
Nach zwei Wochen konnten wir sie zusammen füttern.
