"Do what you can, with what you've got, where you are." -- Theodore Roosevelt
I really take this quote to heart with my photography. My images with snails are my equivalent of "when life gives you lemons". Today I have combined the lemons and a snail and now have added text which adds extra difficulty to shooting the image. Fortunately I was patient and the snail cooperative so it came together.
How are you applying these philosophies to your life?

They are a vibrant, striking butterfly. Their wing colour can vary from yellow to creamy white, with dark margins.
Their caterpillars are a well camouflaged green colour with creamy white lines along each side.
The Lemon Migrant is found across tropical Australia – from Western Australia to all the way across to Queensland, and then throughout eastern parts of Queensland and New South Wales.
Large migrations of Lemon Migrants sometimes occur with butterflies flying from south to north.
The Lemon Migrant caterpillars feed on Cassia fistula tree and other native Cassia, and can often be found in suburban gardens.

Shortly after moving into the house at the end of May we bought two potted fruit trees (mandarin and lemon) for the terrace. They've grown very well throughout the summer. We brought them inside about 10 days ago though as the temperatures were getting very low at night. Shortly afterwards I noticed little flower buds all over the lemon tree and in the last few days they've begun flowering. The smell is gorgeous. I thought I must try and capture a half-decent photo of one of the flowers before they disappear as they seem to come and go very quickly. It was nice doing a macro as it's been a while since I did one. I hope I've done the little flower justice.
PS: We have two lemons growing very well on the plant. A Christmas Day G&T with a lemon picked off my own tree - what a very special treat that will be! :-))
Playing with an older Minolta macro lens....some detail from a beautiful late summer yellow rose. I'm not sure what it actually is called but it did remind me of lemon meringue pie!

My partner works in the community as a carer, and he gets to witness the best and worst in people. The former includes a small number of people who give him home grown produce as a special thanks for the care he provides with politeness and attention to detail. What they don't know is that he can't even boil an egg! Luckily, I am the cook out of the two of us and happily use what he is given. In this case, not only will this freshly picked lemon soon become part of a Lemon Delicious pudding, it also serves as a suitable subject for this week's "Looking Close on Friday" theme.
The theme for “Looking Close on Friday” for the 28th of May is “tasty minimalism”. I hope that you like my choice.

sweetly fragrant
lemon tree blossom
The tree which I chose at the garden centre had beautiful lemons like all the others. But unlike them, it had a single blossom bud. I thought it would wither and die but it has just opened into a flower, scenting our living room.

Wednesday 13th December, 2023.
Why the celebration? Well all the marks, after many hectic weeks, are finally locked and loaded at NESA, ready for the dawn release, by text message, to the thousands of Higher School Certifcate students across the state of New South Wales, and beyond. This is pressure. HSC marks and the all important ATAR rank, to determine university entry.
SO, best wishes to everyone. And a super special wish for my daughter, Miss 18, who will also receive her HSC marks by text at dawn tomorrow.
