So here's a question. On May 15th, 1976, just a few weeks after Conrail started, both of these trains were in Akron at almost the same time. What would you do? They were close enough to meeting that one almost blocked the other. Would you go west after the C628 (#628) on the EL main where trains were becoming rarer every day with or go east with the matched pair of U23B's? At that time I had seen very few Lehigh Valley units. Unfortunately for an almost broke college senior with a tank full of fumes and only a few frames in the camera, it was only from one end of Akron to the other. But what an exciting day.
Designed by Raymond Loewy to help boost Studebaker's waning sales in the early 60s, it is a timeless and classic design still in production off and on all these years by various makers...... These car photos are just a teaser.... I have hundreds more in my car sets-----take a look!!!

The D&H acquired all of the Lehigh Valley Alco C420 April 1, 1976. On April 3rd, 1976 four former LV Alcos are north bound out of Bevier Street YArd.

The eastbound Black Diamond crosses Plains Rd. at Rochester Jct., N.Y., led by 4-6-2 class K-6b Pacific 2097, circa 1940. Three K-6 Pacifics 2089, 2093, and 2097 were assigned to the Black Diamond, with streamlined shrouds designed by Otto Kuhler applied in 1940. No. 2097 was built by Alco in 1924.
