War of the Worlds: Trouble on Spike Prime by Ghalad

Awe inspiring massive builds on exhibition from BrickLive at the Naples Zoo

 

Some seriously impressive large stacked LEGO and DUPLO sculptures are on display, along with some awesome animals doing their thing at the zoo

 

Glad I got to check these builds out on a perfect day before they move on to their next stop. The amount of sun damage to them has to be insane, I wonder if they’re sealed in some UV coating?

Muppets invade the LEGO City! by ClayTon O’Bricks

How’d you do with these CMFs?

I think it took me 5 orders from Amazon (US) to get the second half of the figures- very bad luck. (I could feel through bags, so I didn’t open anything further then the box’s tape seal and returned as necessary). As opposed to my Marvel CMF order, which was 2/2.

 

This might be the last CMF series for me with a price hike and paper packaging imminent. Unless they do more Marvel, of course.

 

These goofy figures are great. I plan on spreading them throughout the modulars

RedDwarf-04 by Ghalad

Red Dwarf

 

"In ages past a comet passed by a red dwarf and myth has it that because of this, dark magic cursed the celestial rock. Whence it crashed onto the peaceful lands of Ardeth, a small band of 13 dwarves mined it for the unique red ore that was held within. Little did they know that it would place on them a dreadful curse imbuing them with powerful dark magic. From their glowing eyes, armored spikes, and their magical lava-like orbs they used as weapons, they were nicknamed the Red Dwarves.

An army of dwarves and elves banded together to fight the fearsome creatures but an entire battalion was wiped out by just a single Red Dwarf. A combination of dark magic, thick iron armor, and the fierce warrior spirit of a dwarf made these dreadful foes. Only 1 of the 13 was ever killed by the dragon, Morgrid at the cost of his very life.

Now the land these dwarves inhabit has been condemned as forbidden and anyone who wanders there must assume his life as forfeit as the likelihood of surviving an encounter with a legendary Red Dwarf, who roam the lands as a cursed zombie like being, is certain death."

 

Built for Brickscalibur for the Dwarf Tales category.

 

This is by far the most complex and heaviest builds I've done so far (15.4lbs). It has roughly 15k pieces and uses the Light my Bricks light kits.

Here is a small modern villa which could well be in Miami.

 

This moc does not take me too long to achieve, I had to spend over two evenings

I expect the weekend to take real pictures but

unfortunately, the weather was too bad and no sun ray to give a hot atmospher to the moc

The interior is not done (there is not even the floor of the first floor)

oh yeah I forgot, yes the pool is 100% waterproof and indeed it is filled with water at 25 °:

Enter 1994’s Saucer Scout to round out my Spyrius collection

 

This set felt ubiquitous as a kid. I had it, and I’m pretty sure most of my friends did too back then. It’s about as simple yet effective as LEGO can get with a spacecraft!

 

So for the line that gave my generation the first leg prints, with Major Kartofski, LEGO doesn’t give too much diversity among the Spyrius crew (outside of the Big One).

Enter the Spyrius-verse, anyone?

 

As a huge fan of Spyrius, I’m very happy to have this little set back in the collection.

Nb of people linving in the house : A family of 4 (2 parents and 2 children)

Nb of Room : 6 (Kitchen, Living room, Parents bedroom, Office room, Kids bedroom, Bathroom)

 

Furnitures : a lot in whole room ;)

Oustide ; Barbecue, transat, garden shed, Flowers, frog pond ....

 

All level are removable easily

Panel from the house could be removed too for a better access for the camera :

   

All parts are studed on each level.

   

The house could be front opened and keeping a nice outside aspect.

Awe inspiring massive builds on exhibition from BrickLive at the Naples Zoo

 

Some seriously impressive large stacked LEGO and DUPLO sculptures are on display, along with some awesome animals doing their thing at the zoo

 

Glad I got to check these builds out on a perfect day before they move on to their next stop. The amount of sun damage to them has to be insane, I wonder if they’re sealed in some UV coating?

WAAAGH! Happy #orktober everyone! I finished this mad, heavily armored, cigar-smoking ork bust inspired by Warhammer 40k. I started this build with some lime green parts I had found from Five Star Bricks and discovering I could light up the zamor spheres from behind with a Light My Bricks light kit (plus a flickering cigar). As with most of my builds I make it up as I go along usually restricted by the parts I have on hand sometimes leading to fun parts usage like a white shark as a ponytail or old Lego unused sticker sheets from the 90s with the perfect checkerboard patterns.

This is definitely the heaviest and largest bust I have made so far. I hope you like it!

Double feature of 1997’s small droid ships, the V-Wing and Cyber Blaster enter the LEGO City!

 

These tiny old sets were heavy on cool intricate prints. All about the minifigs here, but the V-Wing has some really fun classic space elements and shaping!

 

‘97 picks up with leg printing, which hadn’t been seen in a space theme since ‘94s Spyrius droid, Major Kartofski. And we’ll see leg prints on their human counterparts next time I look at RoboForce.

 

Happy to have both the Techdroids from this theme back in my collection, which Techdroid do you like better- red or blue?

This is about as far back as I go with my nostalgia for Classic Space theme. Very strange and fun space helicopter!

 

Great angles and use of storage space for a medium sized ship. Neon elements practically glow in the sun!

 

The droid build up is classic, funny recently building The City of Lanterns (#80036) and seeing the similar build in the Citybots

Review of 76956: Fun, iconic build. I really enjoyed each Explorer build and getting those iconic colors.

T-Rex build was similar to the other brick built we’ve had in the past. Nice color representation of the screen monster. Was sweating putting those eye stickers on! Really don’t want to malign those.

 

To me, the greatest aspect of this set (save display value) is how well the overturned Explorer fits into place and the T-Rex locks in. Good stuff

-Also, the night vision goggles, pure nostalgia

This Dojo is completely modular and made of 18 modules all removable. This 18 modules let you the possibility to build over 9 different dojo !

The Domo is a big triangle, presumably the inspiration for pyramids of antiquity across the globe, #AncientAliens

 

Build was straight forward, it opens up very nicely, and I prefer the Deviants’ builds in this set. Plus, Kro gets a cool head printed piece!

 

On the negative, there are a ton of stickers (that’s not a biggie for me), and the mini figs.. All I see is helmet-less color-coded Power Rangers.

Verne's Projectile by Jordan Schwartz

I was asked by LegoManiac L13 to build something as a tribute to Jules Verne for an upcoming contest over at LEGOPIRATE. And having already tackled "Journey to the Center of the Earth" a while back, I thought something that might have come from From the Earth to the Moon would be appropriate.

 

This MOC is a cross-section of the projectile, heavily inspired by its depiction in the late Horizons at EPCOT Center. (Background is this and this.)

 

Composition-wise, this was a fun experiment in cross-sections; the simplicity of the projectile itself [i,e, a solid bullet-shape with one lush, Victorian chamber] is fanciful - I believe Horizons was not the first to depict it like this, as I can recall seeing a vintage illustration of it a while ago from one of the earliest editions of Verne's masterpiece; so it's not my original design.
