Building something using only pieces from the Pick-a-Brick wall at your local LEGO Store can be fun, but building something that looks good is quite difficult. The limited palette of basic bricks, plates, very few SNOT pieces, and almost no slopes or wedges made this a challenge.

I'm just happy the Pick-a-Brick wall always has a few really useful pieces for advanced building, such as plates with clips which made the tail, fins, and mouth able to move.

Built for the Brickarms "Tremendous Technical" Contest over on the BA Forum.

The Snatch Land Rover has got to be one of my favourite Technicals, the Land Rover originally being only a civilian vehicle used on farms mainly, was never designed to take the role an APC should be doing, however costs meant it was pushed into military service as far more then just a troop transporter but as a fast reaction Technical used to get in and give the bad guys hell! Sadly it was used in many instances as a general patrol vehicle which it was never designed to be as it's not armoured enough. However when used as a Technical it performed very well and there are several versions.

The Brickarms parts usage is as follows(I'm sure I will forget a few)

3 BA MCH Helmets..the Snatch fits 4 figs

Spare tyre held on by a BA monopod

Front bumper features the BA Minigun Handle on the top corners

Two frontal aerials on the hood are BA Minigun end caps

The snorkel in right side is a BA under barrel grenade launcher

The windshield is held in place by a BA Monopod and the snorkel and aerial are held into the windshield by 4 BA U-clips

The aerials on the roof are connected to the roof by a BA 50cal tripod piece

One aerial itself is a BA 50cal firing pin

The gun is a BA LMG..one of my first weapons ; )

The side camouflage netting is made up by using BA U-clips connected together and connected to the vehicle with BA monopods. 96 U-clips used..can't say I've seen camo netting done like this..the actual tech is what the clips were designed to do so credit to Will on a great design..not sure why some people like to take credit for putting them together..you know given that's what they are supposed to do..just odd

Lots of NPU for these great BA parts!

Maybe time for a rest as it's quiet

Messed around with most of my ODG models changing bits of tech around..added the new BA M2HB and i think it fits great! Always good when you can have a steering wheel..if you can..im very lucky to drive past an M3/M2/DUKW most mornings..all fully restored so the M3 has always been a fav WW2 vehicle. feel free to add me to pics..i know some don t like it..but i don t mind..will help where i can..but don t ask for breakdowns of my work during that..please remember that i may still miss work as i don t have the amount of time i had before on flickr.

This was someone I've wanted to make for a while, I didn't think Lego would make variants of some of the characters, so I decided to do one of course. This might be the only variant based off an existing Overwatch minifigure for a while though. I got his head and hair from Bricklink and modified them, I decided to give him goggles that stick out like TLBM Robin, I don't remember who came up with that electric wheel piece, but I think it works pretty well. One of my faves to make.

i'm just gonna hurt you really really bad !!!

Hi!

Hope you enjoy my designs for potential Lego Lotr minifigure series.

My custom Lego minifigure of ️Darth Talon - a female Lethan Twi'lek who become a Sith Lady. From The Star Wars: Legacy comic series.

Her Lekku is wholy made by myself! I don't use Lego one or any molds. I modeled it in plasticine which dries on the air Paulinda. Painted by Citadel and Game Color acrylic paints. Skirt is made from faux leather. Also used a chest from Ninjago, but don't really like it( A little later I'l make some photos without it)

Starfighter for the Umbaran Militia, seen in the Clone Wars.

The third section is depicting the area between opposing trench lines known as “no man’s land”. Attacks, even if successful, often sustained severe casualties because of being fully exposed to gun fire from both sides.

Mimbanese trench raids aimed at forcing temporary entry into the enemy’s line in order to destroy fortification and artillery. The Mimbanese attackers are wearing camouflaged uniforms in order to get as close as possible without being seen.

To counter that, the Empire is using lines of barbed wire to slow down and entangle attacking infantry while shooting them with E-web repeating blasters, protected within their bunkers!

Even if the Mimbanese are very brave, they seem to be fighting a loosing battle…

This is the final section I will be making, I hope you like it, any shares and feedback will be really appreciated! Let me know if you would like to see the three section combined!

Another Incom design seen after the Yuuzhan Vong War. It was the choice starfighter of Rogue Squadron.

So I actually had the idea of making him a few years ago after my brother and I watched the 2014 reboot with Nick Fury and corrupt business man, it was a pretty good film, I'm trying to record the Original movies too. one thing I waited for was the armor piece on him because I didn't want to draw all of the detail on some simple body, he is of course based off his appearance from that reboot, except he's the silver version because I wanted to combine the classic version a little (even though that guy is slower than Internet Explorer, don't worry guys this guy is fast!!!), also because I felt like if I did the black version (which I won't lie, actually looks pretty cool), it would look a bit less detailed. Maybe I'll make that version soon but right now I like this version. His gun is basically the closest thing to his actual gun, if you know a piece that would work bettwr let me know please.

Sickle Abramovich, brother of Mr Hammer. This one armed twin works for Penguin in Arkham City, I'm soon to make his actual sickle. His fingerless glove is made from electrical tape. I'm currently debating painting his penguin symbols on his chest, and his winged skull on his back. I'm also going to extend him somehow so he's taller than Batman, as he is in the game. As always I appreciate any feedback you guys want to give. :)

She has many different little jewelleries which were hell to draw by brush. However nice practice

Another of my fun little display stands..again using "Lifelites" underneath..this one looks awesome on a desk in complete darkness..just a cool paperweight at moment..credit to Maclain for the cubedude head.

My (current) final Bendy character, Bendy's final form in Chapter 5. It was pretty difficult to figure out how to build him, bit I think that this looks pretty awesome, not sure about the legs, but the rest of him is amazing! I painted some of the fingers and claws because I didn't have enough of the black ones, but I still think overall, one of my best builds. I'm trying to get pieces to make more Bendy characters, but just know, Bendy will return...

Left to Right: Captain Comet, Daniel Young, Mindwarp and Hot Spot.

This was a bit of a more difficult character to make, not just some of the details on the character (and that was the easier part), his giant frigging wheel vehicle thing was hard to figure out how to build (It's actually not finished because I don't have enough pieces, I just put it at an angle to make it seem that way, but I still love how it looks. Oh yeah, this is a minor Spider-Man Villain, he has something against Rocket Racer or something, and his appearance is based off a combination of the comic version and a cartoon version.

Very recognizable as a Corellian craft. Would be part of the New Republic fleet. Originally this McQuarrie design was supposed to be the Millennium Falcon.

Been a while since i released any WW2 models so i thought id show my revamped 7off.. Started out thinking i would just change a few parts..but its pretty much a total new build! It is now lower but holds more figs and gear.

The Landing Vehicle Tracked (LVT) was a class of amphibious warfare vehicle, a small amphibious landing craft, introduced by the United States Navy, Marine Corps and Army during World War II. Originally intended solely as cargo carriers for ship to shore operations, they rapidly evolved into assault troop and fire support vehicles as well. The types were all widely known as amphtrack, amtrak, amtrac etc., a portmanteau of amphibious tractor.

The LVT 1 could carry 18 fully equipped men or 4,500 pounds (2,041 kg) of cargo. Originally intended to carry replenishment from ships ashore, they lacked armor protection and their tracks and suspension were unreliable when used on hard terrain. However, the Marines soon recognized the potential of the LVT as an assault vehicle. Armored versions were introduced as well as fire support versions, dubbed Amtanks, which were fitted with turrets from Stuart series light tanks (LVT(A)-1) and Howitzer Motor Carriage M8s (LVT(A)-4). Among other upgrades were a new powerpack, also borrowed from the Stuarts, and a torsilastic suspension which significantly improved performance on land.

Had a few changes here and there..im re shooting some older models at better angles..my stream has already halfed over last few days..most of the older pics are still available on Brickshelf under "Clausewitz" but theres no point keeping them on here.

Wolverines trusty steel horse! From this angle you may just be able to see the headlight has an X in the middle ; ) ..main feature on this bike is the Brickarms Barrel as a tail pipe..ive thought of a few more cool ideas for it..id really like to see what others can do with it!

I've been getting a lot of questions lately about paints and painting techniques, so I'm putting together a few of the most common questions and tips in a single post.

This is not intended to be a "Painting Guide" (I'll leave that sort of thing to the pros!), but rather just used to answer a few basic questions. Hopefully as others add comments and questions to this thread, it will develop even more.

Q&A:

What paints do you use?

Acrylics only, no enamels. Acrylics are water-soluable, so they mix and wash-up easily. There are a LOT of different paints on the market and no single brand will be favored by everyone. I actually use a variety of brands, depending on what I'm doing, certain color needs, etc.

On the more expensive side:

Citadel, P3, Vallejo

Cheaper brands:

Folkart, Americana, Apple Barrel

Do you thin your paints?

Yes, almost always. The ratio depends on the paint in use (some are thicker than others right out of the jar) and how many coats you want to use. You can thin Acrylics with water. A couple brands also offer acrylic thinner or mixing medium, which is intended to mix even more smoothly. When in doubt, go thin. Nothing will ruin a custom part quicker than thick globs of paint. :)

Do you mix your paints?

Sometimes, but not always. You basically have to finish that part in one sitting, or use a wet palette if you are mixing.

How about primer?

Yes, always.

Citadel Black spray is my favorite for priming (or white if you are working with brighter colors). Some people use brush-on primer, but I use spray whenever possible.

How about sealer?

Yes, always. If you spend this much time working on something, you want it to last. Sealer should be the last thing you do to your custom, painted parts before they are complete. I recommend an acrylic matte finish, but some people use gloss for certain things (it is supposed to protect better). I personally don't want a "shiny" look on finished parts. Another option is to use a gloss coat, allow to dry, then apply a flat coat for "maximum protection without the shine" (sounds like a commercial!), but I usually just stick with flat sealer only.

Any other tips?

Take your time and be patient. A good custom isn't done in 10 minutes. The basic order of operations is primer, paint, wash, detail, more details, highlight, sealer, done!

Have other questions? Feel free to post them here...There are a lot of talented Lego painters here in our community, all of whom have unique insight to offer. Hopefully they will also join the discussion and assist along the way.

Got tips of your own? Post those here as well.

Thanks!

My Lego custom Witchking of Angmar and Eowyn

I gave her white hair so they matched

from R to L :

Black Canary : recently i take the Scarlet Witch's legs back to Wonder Woman and I just got a idea to use the torso, arms and the face and I think she turns out pretty well ;)

Shazam : when I try to remake the Deadpool I RUINED lots of lots of red torso.....but until today.......I REMAKE THE SHAZAM!!!and I pretty like the fully painted face

Brainiac : just got his own W.I.P photo yesterday and I finished him today.....so...yea! pretty nice I would say :)

just a very simple custom....and I really suggest you guys fo watch this movie!!!!it's very AWESOME :)

Finally got around to finishing this, few areas that i will mess with more in the future probably but It's done for now.

The whole rear trailer clips on and off in one piece on purpose so i could swap it for different variations if wanted later.

Posable steering. The M45 guns all move up and down as one, previous versions I've made in the past could not move this way so it's a vast improvement.

While the air over Nam was very much dominated by the US, the M45 found itself used not only in the AA role but often against ground targets.

I have quite a few more fig combos but didn't include them as it would give away what my next few Nam builds are ; )

A lot of people like to follow WW2 or Modern Military, where as the Vietnam war is something many want to forget or pass over, it was one of the most costly wars for the US and spanned not only years but different presidents and whole changes in culture. It's something that should be taught and something people should learn about. Nam vets get a rougher deal then WW2 vets, and it's stupid, they were no less heroes then the ww2 guys IMO. In many cases the people signing up believed what they were told by the government about communism taking over the whole world and wanted to help stop it or they had no choice and were drafted, heck many went because other family and friends had gone and wanted to do whatever they could to help. There are no 100% heroes or villains in life or war and many of the Nam vets on both sides went through Hell on earth, they got my respect.

I put a filter on the pic to try get a similar look of a photograph from that actual time period.

master chief from halo 1

this is really important fig to me because ever since i first played halo 1 i wanted to make a perfect mc fig and never did i succeed until now. so this is an accomplishment on my part.

anyway let me know what i could improve on this fig.

Left to Right: The Master of The World, The Corrupter, Nightshade, and The Controller.

These are lesser known villains.

Just a close up of my heli..massive thanks to all the great Little Byrds out there..really helped me in building my own. My Archangel contractors aerial choice for infiltrations ; )

Which weapon will you improve your proficiency with today?

This figure was made by an acquaintance, not me; not including citizen brick's head. I love woodland camo!

A small vignette I made of my "Cobold's Crusaders" characters for Guilds of Historica. Around the time of the winter solstice, many Historicans will decorate pine and fir trees!

You can see a closer look at Ayra's Winter Attire here

My latest version of the Bat pod, it's had more changes then you would know.. will leave this version be..for now ; )

Stand is a couple other CIS fleet ships. This is one of my favorites, even if its construction is odd.
