"A LEGEND NEVER DIES" Long live Dusty Hill.

Legend has it that Pirene was the most beautiful daughter of the god Tubal, then owner of these lands. She had been named caretaker of the waters and she lived among the immensity of the forests, where she walked and enjoyed nature.

When Hercules was on his way to perform one of her twelve labors, she passed through one of the forests. At the meeting, the two fell in love and loved each other in the warm night. However, Hercules soon forgot his promises of love and decided to continue on his way, abandoning Pirene.

Rumors of the beauty of Tubal's daughter had also reached Gerion, a three-headed monster who lived in Erytheia. Gerion went to meet Pirene and tried to take her, but when she refused, he decided to burn the forest that burned in the flames.

The news reached Hercules, who retraced his steps to help Pirene. But when he arrived it was too late. He only found a lifeless body. Pirene had died in the fire.

Destroyed and sorry for her loss, Hercules decided to bury her among some enormous and beautiful stones, giving rise to the mountain range that would bear her name, the Pyrenees.

If you ever get the chance to visit Liverpool (and I hope you do) you will soon notice the all consuming obsession with the Beatles wherever you go in the city. If anything time has only added to the legend that surrounds this extraordinary band of four musicians that literally changed the face of music in the early 60s and continued to innovate until their breakup 10 years later. Cheeky, funny, and ultra talented the Beatles reigned supreme in the pop music world for all of that time.

These larger than life bronze statues celebrating the fab four are by sculptor Andy Edwards and sit in the area on the River Mersey referred to as Pier Head, very close to the fabulous Royal Liver building. It's such a popular attraction that it's actually quite difficult to get a shot like this because there are hordes of tourists surrounding the artwork from dawn till dusk, all of them waiting their turn to nestle in amongst the statues for their own 'Beatles moment'. And who can blame them!

Les deux Frères (The Two Brothers) facing Cap Sicié - The Two Brothers are two rocks emerging at the tip of Cap Sicié (Var, France) and visible from the Sablettes beach in La Seyne-sur-Mer. It is a place that welcomes many boaters as well as diving clubs whose objective is to visit a wreck located in the immediate vicinity.

The myth of “Les Deux Frères” has given rise to various interpretations. One of them speaks of two fishermen brothers who were inseparable until a mermaid seduced the youngest and lured him down into the depths of the sea. In an attempt to save him, his elder was also dragged to his death, unable to resist the charm of the sea creature. During his agonising final minutes, he begged the god Apollo to save them and ensure they were forever together. And that is how they came to be transformed into two rocks located offshore of Cape Sicié.

The second myth evokes an injured mermaid washed up on the beach, whom the two sailors tried to save. But as misfortune would have it, they both fell madly in love with her and fought to the death. When the mermaid swam back out to sea, she begged Poseidon to bless them with a visible and immutable form in memory of their shared passion. The god of seas and oceans answered her wish by transforming the two unfortunate sailors into two rocks.

Legend tells also that a giant octopus devours careless visitors… In the Sixties, it was even said that the authorities erected a fence around the little island to avoid overly-curious divers meeting their demise.

Saddened by the news of Steve Jobs. I've used his products practically every day since 1990. They've changed my life and shaped the industry I work in.

I live by this quote of his...

"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."

BEDDGELERT

According to the legend, the stone monument in the field marks the resting place of " GELERT" the faithful hound of the medieval Welsh Llewelyn the Great.

In the 13th Century Llewelyn, Prince of North Wales, had a palace at Beddgelert. On day he went hunting without Gelert, the faithful hound, who was unaccountably absent.

On Llewelyn's return the truant, stained and smeared with blood, joyfully sprang to meet his master. The Prince alarmed hastened to find his son, and saw the infant's cot empty, the bed clothes and floor covered with blood.

The frantic father plunged his sword into the hound's side, thinking it had killed his heir. The dog's dyng yell was answered by a child's cry.

Llewelyn searched and discovered his boy unharmed, but nearby lay the body of a mighty wolf which Gelert had slain.

The Prince filled with remorse is said never to have smiled again.

He buried Gelert here.

Legends aren't born. They're made.

I've seen this person zoom by me from behind on a dozen occasions, but today I finally caught them coming towards me.

"Artists Felix St. Fort and Gabe Tiberino have joined forces in a new mural honoring the Cecil B. Moore Freedom Fighters. Rather than focus solely on their namesake, this mural highlights the unseen women and young people behind this iconic 1960’s Philadelphia civil rights group. Under the leadership of the indomitable Cecli B. Moore, teens and young adults successfully desegregated Girard College in 1965. They got into “good trouble,” as civil rights legend John Lewis so famously called it."

There is a legend related to Háifoss waterfall. It goes like this: "An ogress lived in Háifoss (which used to be called Fossárfoss before it got its name in 1912). She lived on trout, which she caught in the waterfall. Once a teenage boy travelling with other travellers threw a rock into the river. That night the ogress went to the tent, where the travellers were sleeping, and tried to pull the teenage boy by his legs out of the tent. But his mates pulled him in the other direction by the upper part of his body. After a lot of tussle the ogress let the boy go and went away, but the boy was bedridden for a whole month from this maltreatment". (Translated from the Folklore of Jón Árnason).

Haifoss waterfall, situated near the volcano Hekla in the south of Iceland. The river Fossá, a tributary of Þjórsá, drops here from a height of 122 m. This is the second highest waterfall of the island.

Nordic Legends. Just offshore from the black sand beach in Vík, the basalt rock formations, Reynisdrangar, stick up out of the Atlantic like fingers. As the folklore goes, these spindly rock formations are actually trolls frozen in time. You see, trolls are night dwellers. They were trying to drag three ships ashore when they were caught in the sunlight and turned to stone. The world-famous Reynisfjara shore, near the village Vik in Myrdalur on Iceland's South Coast, is widely regarded as the most impressive shore in Iceland My 500 link 500px.com/yiannispavlis
