The ruins of Kirkham Priory are situated on the banks of the River Derwent, at Kirkham, North Yorkshire, England. The Augustinian priory was founded in the 1120s by Walter l'Espec, lord of nearby Helmsley, who also built Rievaulx Abbey. The priory was surrendered in 8 December 1539 during the Dissolution of the Monasteries. Legend has it that Kirkham was founded in remembrance of l'Espec's only son who had died nearby as a consequence of his horse being startled by a boar.

Today Apple named their new OS El Capitan. Couldn't be happier to have these legendary National Park monuments valued and promoted for world to know about them. Almost five years back I didn't even know about Yosemite which is before I arrived to the US. My ignorance. But if you lived in a country right on the other side of the globe of the United States, its was not that big of a surprise. But now Apple putting them on the 'Map' makes it easier for the people everywhere to know and admire these legends.
This is the tunnel view of the valley, with El Capitan on the left and the Half dome peeping right in the middle across the valley. This is a very popular spot in the park but you can never have enough of them! :)
A McDonnell Douglas/Boeing F-15E Strike Eagle from the 335th Fighter Squadron (335 FS) out of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina launches from the South EOR during a Red Flag 16-1 sortie. In 1991, During Operation Desert Storm, this aircraft (89-0487) was credited with downing an Iraqi Mil Mi-24 Hind helicopter in the air using a GBU-10 laser-guided bomb. In 2012, this aircraft became the first F-15 of any type to log over 10,000 hours.

The legend says that the blackberry died of love on the Hill of the Maiden, which is where he had stayed with the Christian (killed by spite of a Moor suitor) and that is why his eyes look at the Old Town from the place where he is waiting...
BNSF R-CHI452 rounds the bend into Batavia, Illinois on the historic West Chicago Branch with the honorable Stephen Schmidt as the engineer, three engines for power, and a single plastic hopper for CFS.
Bonus Ian Contreras sighting in the background.

Saddened by the news of Steve Jobs. I've used his products practically every day since 1990. They've changed my life and shaped the industry I work in.
I live by this quote of his...
"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."
(Steve Jobs - June 2005)

Legend has it that Amaterasu, goddess of the sun, was married to Tsukuyomi, the god of the moon. Until the intrigues of Susanoo, God of the sea separated them, thus creating day and night.
In the midst of the suffering Amaterasu was immersed in a cave for a long time.
A good day tired of crying, decided to fight for his love... Since then she shines with greater strength in the sky, waiting for each sunrise and each sunset, to receive a fleeting caress of his beloved.

Trees like this ancient western hemlock have survived for centuries, yet still find themselves endangered. We have long past the point at which we should have stopped old growth logging, yet here we are. Save the old growth forests we still have left; they are irreplaceable!
they finally got him to jump. good thing too, because they’re raising the bridge this year and i think patrick’s jumping days are over almost before they began. maybe everyone’s jumping days are over.
I know that technically this probably isn't up to scratch, but it does somehow capture what this place feels like. The loneliness of hills, forested bogland.
This is my friend Rathan posing as Will Smith in I'm Legend...
This was shot a long time back when I went to visit him in Austin. The bridge at the background is the 360 loop bridge.

Wasn't easy to shoot as the low sun was right behind be and I was casting huge shadows.
