Best day of my life, you wouldn't even believe. Yeah, I started to cry when I looked up and saw them, well I saw Lee first. I recorded it but missed where matt said hello >..<'
Lee never looks happy in photos but he was pretty happy in person :3
also, I know this photo isn't great haha, I just want this up.
At the Lee Krasner (1908-1984) exhibition, Barbican Gallery, London. A wonderful show and the first time Krasner has been exhibited in UK since 1985. In the background: Milkweed, collage from 1955.

From May this year while staying in Ilfracombe for a few days to explore Devon's north coast. This is from the small hamlet Lee with its fabulous remote and rugged coastline. I scrambled over the rocks for a while to get a better view of the cliffs to the east - even managed to soak my shoes in a rock pool on the way :-P
Eastbound by timetable definition NS 823 passes through Virginia Lee on the Buchanan Branch with the Central of Georgia heritage unit leading.

Photographically, Christmas day was looking like the best of the weather forecast. So I delayed Christmas dinner and headed to Whinstone Lee Tor. It doesn't take ling to walk up to here, and during that time there was some lovely light. But, just as I was on the final stretch, the sun dropped into cloud. After that, I only had a few moments of light then I waited for over an hour in the wind before heading back down, glad I'd captured something at least.

Another stunning hidden cove at the Devon north coast is at the wee hamlet of Lee. We 'accidentally' stopped there to walk in a bluebell forest and then realised how beautiful the secluded cove with its rugged coastline is.
It was December 1970 when I shot the rear end of a westbound CB&Q freight passing the depot in the booming metropolis of Lee, Illinois. At the time, Lee had a population of 252, and currently has 327 residents, which includes Mike Schafer and his White River Publications office.
Jumping on the bandwagon here...
Running with only two of three of its ex-B&O SD40s (rebuilt as SD40-3s), the Escalante-Western unit coal train turns left at the Junction with 35 cars for loading at the El Segundo mine. The track in the foreground runs to the Lee Ranch Mine, which is currently inactive.
Sadly, this unique coal ferrying operation is slated to end in May, as the Tri-State Generation and Transmission Authority has announced its plan to close the Escalante Generating Station near Prewitt, NM by the end of the year, five years earlier than it was scheduled to close. 'Cause ETTS.
Runs remaining now number in the teens.

A last minute decision to head out yesterday. I got there around golden hour. Set my tripod up and it promptly blew over. I wish I'd taken my bigger tripod. You can see the waves on Ladybower Reservoir.
I couldn't be too choosy with compositions. It was wherever my tripod was most stable. I could have done with swapping from my 24-105mm too. But longer focal lengths do help with the size of the reservoir. Just harder to compose shots with a foreground.

Lee is situated on a rugged and inhospitable stretch of coast in a Designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty just a few miles from Ilfracombe. The Mill house bottom right has been a smugglers' hideout, a flour mill, a bakery, a sweet shop and a tea room, now a holiday home.

Today Lee's Ferry is the launch point for rafters to ride down the Colorado River.

Taken last Friday soon after arriving at Whinstone Lee Tor.
The light was already really good and I started taking photos as soon as I could get the camera set up.
Lee Abbey, founded in 1946, is an ecumenical Christian community between Woody Bay and Lynmouth in Devon, England. It is a Grade II listed building. The first building on the site may have been a farmhouse built by Cistercian abbots of Forde Abbey around 1200. The current Gothic Revival buildings are from the 1850s. Wikipedia
When I had spotted them from above I was not sure if she was homeless and finding a spot away from people or not. When I came by later on my walk and spoke with her she said she gets that a lot. It was just a favorite quiet place to enjoy the sunset. She said when the road is not blocked off, cars and all sorts of folks gather down at the waters edge.
Lee had recently graduated from college and had an online graduation ceremony in 2020. A very different experience and one it sounds she did not enjoy so much after devoting so much time into her degree.
Her dog, Chloe, works as an emotional support dog for one of the local elementary schools. She was protective of Lee, but put at ease when Lee called her back. A gentle big dog.
