A plasma globe (forefront), 3 large beakers containing colored water and shards of frozen carbon dioxide (a.k.a. dry ice) behind, and Galileo's Thermometer (at left), are just three of the self-contained, interactive science projects at the County of Los Angeles Public Library's Booth at the 2007 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books.

Some of the freebies (note pads, brochures, magic pocket mirrors, 8 language "read" gel bracelets, bags, etc., which the County of Los Angeles Public Library gave away at thier booth at the 2007 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books.

Frozen Carbon Dioxide (a.k.a. Dry Ice) instantly converts from its frozen state (-109Β°) to its gas state when placed in a warmer environment; in this case 72Β° colored water .
