My daughter is in the middle of scheduling all her potential college visits this summer and fall. We wanted to make sure that all our questions would be addressed during each visit. We don't want to have an "Oh we forgot to ask..." moment after we get in the car to drive back home, so I've created this Moleskine Personal Kanban to take with us on the visits. The set up is pretty straight forward: the backlog consists of colleges to visit and questions for the visit. Since each campus will have campus specific questions I've tagged the questions with the college initials. Once the visit is in-progress we will pull the questions into the visit-in-progress lane and after they have been addressed we will pull them over to completed. We also set up a board in LeanKit ( www.flickr.com/photos/swimmor/14624255593/ ) so that we could all (Mom, Dad and daughter) visit it and populate questions when they came to mind and when online visiting the college websites. This also aided in streamlining our process. We feel much more confident in our visits now. We won't have the pressure of focusing on thinking what we should ask during the tour. We will be focusing on the visit with much more clarity.

My daughter had specific questions she wanted addressed during our visit. So she asked for a lane to add her questions in. I revised the original board to add her lane and a retrospective lane(s) as well (on following pages) See that image in the link below (update 18b) so we could collaborate on our take-aways from the visit.

Our family Personal Kanban board for upcoming college visits for our daughter. We are currently populating questions for the first campus visit. Yesterday my daughter wanted a section for her specific questions in the questions lane added so we added that in on the board.

Connected my laptop to my 51" plasma tonight, updating my pk using my LeanKit kanban board. The camera in no way does this justice, the screen was so beautiful. I don't think I will ever work off my laptop screen again!

My bookmarking system was becoming so cumbersome and unorganized so I needed a change. I had so many folders I could never recall where I saved an article and one of the apps I using heavily suddenly stopped working for me so I decided to make a LeanKit bookmarking board. I am using this board for bookmarks mostly for research and also for articles I want to read and then I am done with them, not needing to pull them up again. I have a lane for bookmarks that are unfiltered, and then several lanes for specific topics and then a done/read column for the cards holding the links when I have completed the research or read the pages I saved. A bonus is that it is very easy to save a link to my board while working on my iPad.
