Ospreys always seem highly motivated for the Christmas Bird Count on Armand Bayou. This one was ready to go right at sunrise.

This church (on the fortress island of Suomenlinna, near Helsinki) was originally Russian Orthodox, but at a later point it was converted to Lutherian and its onion domes were knocked down, leaving it looking a little bit odd. It reminded me of a rocket on a launch pad.

Jasper got the codes for Christmas and he's launching a full-on frisbee attack. Canine missile launched! Granted this is an ugly backdrop but thought the impressive leap was worth posting.

Brants at the same time I was...the next shot was her coming back around the corner towards me.

The modern elevator in the Old Town Hall with Astronomical Clock in Prague. With it's modern architecture it is a strong contrast to the building. In the picture the elevator is moving.

This picture was shot without a tripod, just with the IBIS of my Canon R6, I was impressed.

For Inuit, a sea people, the boat launch remains a ritual of continuity. Though fiberglass and stainless steel hulls and high‑velocity rifles mark the hunt in the 21st century, each departure carries echoes of ancestral journeys.

Harvesting from the wild affirms identity, resilience, and belonging—transforming a practical act into a culturally significant gesture of survival and meaning.

Creating memorable moments is something we strive to do on our photo workshops. During an outing this spring, we were getting ready to wind up a fun Milky Way shoot deep in the Utah desert. A 5% moon was just starting to rise when all of the sudden we saw a line of lights traveling quickly in the sky overhead. These lights originated from a single point and proceeded to follow each other all the way to the horizon. We had never seen anything like it! The lights just kept coming and coming. Meanwhile, I decided I'd better take a photo to document it! After we got back, we learned this was a launch of some Starlink satellites by SpaceX. If you zoom in on the photo, you can see the little hooks in the light trails from where they were launched off the rocket. Moments like this will live in our memories forever!

Taken at the end of November last year when we were lucky enough to have about 100 Bohemian Waxwings feeding in a residential Norwich street.

They were a bit more skittish than Waxwings I have encountered before - decending en masse from the overlooking trees for no longer than 30 seconds at a time of frenzied feeding before returning to safety.

This is the arched hallway of the City Hall in Santiago de Compostela in Spain. It's simply a mirrored image of the top of the hallway and it's rotated 90 degrees. You can note the lamps at the top of the archs. Then I added the lights effects through the columns.
