I was able to anticipate the launch of this Purple Gallinule because I was taking pictures of him when he decided to go another Fireflag clump where he can feed on its flowers.

Captured in: Callicoon, NY.
Pictured here is the launch and subsequent explosion of a fireworks rocket & shell during a fireworks show. The image was captured during an annual July 4th event held in upstate NY.
My brother-in-law was part of the pyrotechnics team that was running the show, so we were fortunate to get an up-close and personal view of the launch area.
I found this one while recently looking back through the archives. ;) Not sure why I never got around to posting it, especially as I happened to really like the shot.

Australian Hobby ( Falco longipennis)
This Hobby is usually seen around the Suzanne Cory High School. It was ready to take off as I took this shot.
Another one from the Forth Bridges, this time with the main star of the show! Despite the Old Lady being built in 1882 it still magnetises the eyes of anyone who visits the area. A bit after sunset and some lovely colour on the sky to mark the end of another day.
And with launching pad only one song could go perfectly well in my mind:

Thank you for taking the time to look at my image
In western Colorado, we have lots of raptor visitors in the winter. One of my favorite winter raptors is the rough-legged hawk. There's something quite special about its beauty in flight and of course, their overall beauty. They get their name from their fully feathered legs to the feet ... similar to that of a golden eagle or a ferruginous hawk.
In 2020, I saw several early on in the winter, but not too many since that time. Guess I'll have to wait until next winter to see them again.
Thanks so much for stopping by to view and comment. :-)
