I ended my free day by ordering a slice of chocolate mousse cake from Patisserie Valerie, curling up in my hotel bed, and watching British game shows. It was a little hard to order from Patisserie, as it mostly employs French speakers. Me and the man behind the counter were having a hard time with each other, and when he asked me something I couldn't understand I just told him that I wanted chocolate. I think I had a little bit of a frustrated, desperate tone to my voice because he laughed and picked out this cake for me. It was a good choice.
This is the first restaurant I ate at in London and also the first time I spent Pounds! It was located right outside St. Paul's, and was absolutely delicious. I had ordered a ham and cheese croissant which I later realized was very popular in London; to have a croissant for the bread of a sandwich (I miss this very much). I also realized while I was here how many languages are spoken in London; the people behind the counter spoke French and Swedish and I speak neither. Lunch was actually hard to order because of this. While this is obviously language diversity, I also consider cultural diversity, as it is very uncommon in Columbus to run into so many people from different countries and to hear so many languages.
A language is not merely a means for communication but a reflection of the people's social, economic, and political ideologies. To create a technologically democratic society, the tech needs to be inclusive of the diversity among the languages. By acknowledging this diversity, the chances of tech reaching a wider audience increase and create a positive relationship between your digital product and the people.
Way2Smile Solutions embraces diversity in its organization to create tech solutions that transcend the various cultural borders. Let us fuel the change by being culturally inclusive and moving towards our vision for a unified, holistic society. It's time we dissolve information concentration!
