This is an old 'film' image taken during a trek in the beautiful Langtang valley in 2003. In April 2015, a severe earthquake devastated many villages in this valley. The worst hit, was Langtang village itself as over 240 people lost their lives. I will never forget the kindness of those villagers I met during that trek.
The warm light hits the chiselled snow capped peak of Lantang, some minutes before sunrise.
This comes of a single exposure - RAW.
Underexposed 1 stop , or rather exposed for the peak.

One month before the devastating earthquake in Nepal, that utterly destroyed the ancient village of Langtang in the same named glacial valley in 2015, I visited this mirage-like place. The courageous people of the valley are now rebuilding - but nothing can bring back the hundreds of locals and trekkers who were lost on that fateful day 25th of April 2015.
Another glorious month has been spent in Nepal, mainly visiting the Langtang Valley up by the Tibetan border and Chitwan National Park down by the Indian border.

On a rainy day at Kyanjin Gompa, I decided to walk over the river to Chhonak Lake. On the other side of the lake, the the mountain side steeply ascended in to cloud. With a long lens, I made several images of the cloud forest as it was shrouded in drifting mist.

Langtang Lirung (7,234 m, 23,734 ft.) is seen on the horizon right of center in this shot taken on the way home from a 10-day trek in Bhutan. The peak lies some 65 km (40 mi.) north-northeast of Kathmandu in Langtang National Park, Bagmati Province, Nepal. The sharp pyramid to its right is Kimshung (aka Tsangbu Ri, 6,781 m, 22,247 ft.). The mountain at far left (c. 7,280 m, 23,885 ft.) lies in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China.
At Kyanjin-Gompa. The peak of the shrine is seen behind this roof made of stone. Prayer flags and the serene mountains create a mystic aura to this glacial valley of Langtang.
