This morning before going to church, someone told me that if I went to the 34th floor of our condo building I would see an amazing sight. It was so cold that the lake had a fog rising from it. The weather felt like -28 C, but sunny. Notice how frozen the marina is! Best seen large by clicking on the photo.
"Fog consists of visible cloud water droplets or ice crystals suspended in the air at or near the Earth's surface.[1] Fog can be considered a type of low-lying cloud and is heavily influenced by nearby bodies of water, topography, and wind conditions." Wikiipedia
Happy New Year! Bonne année!
Silence spreads like a wordless prayer. The lake breathes slowly, as time dissolves along the line where water meets sky. Nothing asks for haste.
There is an invisible dialogue between she and the horizon – a conversation that needs no sound, only presence. The tree, stripped of its leaves, understands. It bends with the wind but stands tall, holding secrets that winter cannot erase.
The bench is not just a place to rest but a space where thoughts drift lightly, dancing between what is and what once was. Solitude, here, does not weigh heavy. It spreads like light over the water, turning every absence into a poem.
At the lake’s edge, what feels missing becomes whole.
***

The C.N. Tower has been part of my downtown city skyline as long as I can remember. Also familiar is the constant developments close to the shoreline of Lake Ontario - whether for residential or commercial purposes. In this view looking west towards the downtown core, it's funny to see a glimpse of the Royal York Hotel (Fairmount Royal York) at the far right of the photo. The hotel opened in the summer of 1929 is dwarfed by the cranes and office buildings around it. At the time of it's completed construction, the Royal York used to be the tallest in the city and British Empire at that time. That's a snapshot of progress.
Residents of the largest urban centre in Canada are known for face-paced city living. You can (usually) find you way around downtown -driving, transit and walking, by looking for the southern landmark - the C.N. Tower. (The view of the skyline from the sky when flying back home from a trip is also quite comforting.) Born and raised here in Toronto, I know many of us appreciate not only the Arts, athletics and culture within our buildings, but our natural surroundings as well. People flock to green spaces, enjoy waterfronts and care for domestic and wild animals. We definitely appreciate and keep ourselves busy - in work and play - during all four seasons.
While at Fort Niagara State Park back in March, near the Canadian border in Upstate NY, we realized that we could actually see Toronto from across Lake Ontario while on the beach! You can just barely make out the skyline on the horizon. #fortniagarastatepark #fortniagara #torontoskyline #LakeOntarioViews #lakeontariophotography #waterphotography #niagaraatthelake #upstatenyphotography #lakephotography #stateparkphotography
