Prompt: In 3D style, A lady in a pink shirt and tan slacks, holding a putter golf club, is tripping over a West Highland White Terrier as the westie steals the golf ball going toward the hole. In the background, three other lady golfers react in exaggerated surprise and they are laughing. The scene is set on a lush green golf course with tall trees and blue skies, expressive, in the nostalgic Norman Rockwell Style. No flag in the hole.

My maternal grandmother Nora Whitehead from Blackpool, England. I never knew her, she died (of infective jaundice) eight years before I was born. She was a pioneer lady golfer.

I golfed this morning and this afternoon I went for a good old walk around the golf course and noticed this single lady golfer playing herself! She marched onto the 5th green and did what we all want to do ... down in one putt!

During the Golden Age of American Illustration in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, artists like Charles Dana Gibson could become wealthy celebrities. They could become rich and famous by creating drawings and paintings for newspapers, books, magazines, and commercial advertising.
Gibson was educated at the Art Students League of New York and wanted to create paintings for publication, but the marketplace definitely favored his pen-and-ink drawings. That preference was so strong that his “Gibson Girl” became an ideal image of youthful American femininity, and Gibson’s drawings of her were responsible for the success of several magazines. At the height of his career, Gibson was paid $100,000 for 100 drawings over a four-year period (well over $1 million today), and he was later able to purchase “Life” magazine with a syndicate of successful illustrators.

Not so much that you have to have a seat as "you" are over the hill but that's where you should direct your ball off the 6th tee at St. Nicholas Golf Club. I had gone for a walk this morning and watched three ladies tee-off - you can see them on the left of the centre ..... they ain't going to get par!
I took the same shot a few months ago but today I had sunshine!!

“Penrhyn Stanlaws was born in 1877 in Dundee, Scotland. A prominent illustrator of the 1910s through 30s, his ladies would show up everywhere from cigarette ads to the covers of ‘Colliers,’ ‘The Ladies' Home Journal’ and ‘The Saturday Evening Post.’
“Typical of the thirty-seven Post covers Stanlaws painted was a stylishly dressed, rather haughty lady and a hat to die for. The artist frequently used props (in addition to the dazzling chapeaus) such as bouquets or coffee cups. Stanlaws was born Stanley Adamson. His brother, Sydney Adamson, was also an illustrator, so Stanley changed his name to avoid confusion.
“Stanlaws dabbled with more than just paint: he played a key role in building the historic Hotel des Artistes on West 67th Street in New York and even directed some silent Hollywood films in the ‘20s.
“Note his distinctive signature: the capital “S” is resting in a circle of contrasting color. The artist passed away in 1957.” – The Saturday Evening Post Archives
There was many young ladies on Prestwick Golf Club, this afternoon enjoying their rounds of golf. I watched the lady on the tee drive her ball oh so far down the fairway ~ glad I wasn't playing her!!

Having battled around the course in the pouring rain young Jess holed a long putt on the last green just as the sun came out. Get in there!

I'm working with a friend that is taking a photography class and I needed to shoot some black and white 35mm film to have something to work with in the darkroom. I loaded up a roll of Pan-X 125 before heading in to San Francisco for an appointment. I stopped off afterwards at The California Palace of The Legion of Honor and was taking shots when I saw this woman getting ready to tee-off on the golf course next door. I zoomed in, focused and let the six frames per second motordrive do the rest. As you can see, the result is a shot of the ball just as it is starting to fly off of the club face at impact.
I've cropped the image for composition and reduced the resolution as the original 6,400dpi scan was 152MB in size.
Camera: Canon EOS-1N HS w/PDB-E1
Lens: Canon 70-200mm f/4.0L @200mm
Exposure: Not noted
Film: Kodak Pan-X 125
Scanner: Epson V750-M Pro
