The warp is linen and the weft is from a stash of tiny handspun wool samples, natural and naturally-dyed, that were given to me by a retired weaver several years ago.

At Grace we do a grass-mown labyrinth in the churchyard every year, but we haven't done an indoor one since 2004 because we didn't have our own cloth. So yesterday afternoon we made one with hessian and duct tape. The octagonal pattern was surprisingly easy to tape out - it took three people two hours.

A labryinth near the lobby of the California Pacific Medical Center, on Buchanan & Clay.
What you can't see in the picture is that the hospital, a typical concrete montrosity, extends over me. It's as if they punched a gigantic hole in the building so as not to spoil the view for residents to the east.

This one is hidden away in the middle of the woods, and was difficult to follow due to the leaves and mud. The challenge was part of the lesson.

I wove a border of cotton that will be hemmed to the back. I thought about using blue for the pathway, but decided to take another direction.
