Labrador Nature Reserve (Chinese: 拉柏多自然保护区), also locally known as Labrador Park (拉柏多公园), is located in the southern part of the main island of Singapore. It is an oasis of tranqulity and natural wonder. It contains the only rocky sea-cliff on the mainland that is accessible to the public. Since 2002, 10 hectares of coastal secondary vegetation and its rocky shore have been gazetted as a Nature Reserve.
It's not easily read - even when blown up - so here it is:
The concrete ruins which you see here are the
remains of the Marconi Wireless Telegraph Station
that was built in 1904. Originally constructed for
the benefit of trans-Atlantic shipping, the
telegraph station became the first
major communication link, between the
Labrador Straits and the rest of the world.
The Point Amour Marconi Station in the 1930s. During the
summer monthsat least three operators were needed to keep
up with the number of messages being sent and received.
