This small cooperative of seamstresses opens onto the main street in Sittwe, Rakhine State, Myanmar.
My dolly clothing was inspired by work. I initially loved the idea of the men's white v-neck undershirt as a fashion staple for Corporate America. The V-Neck and a classic collared button down where so necessary for me. For Blythe, This translated to tailored men's shirts as undergarments for overall dresses with functional straps. The "LaborForce" line: White collar meets blue collar with the straps as a nod to my love for anything mechanical. I also wanted the items to be interchangeable with other dresses. In October 2012 I launched my line. Without everyone's love and support, I'm not sure where I would be as a Dolly designer.
When researching, I saw many dresses, but nothing with functional straps.
I still feel I have a unique niche in the community. But in November of 2013 I saw a dress similar to my aesthetic. It was made by a friend who I meet in June of 2013. I know imitation is flattery. I realize that I can not claim to be the inventor of functional straps nor overall dresses. Replication just pushes me to change as an artist. To discover new inspirations.
I just wish it wasn't a friend who did it.
So I wanted to do a random update with my new dress design. I still will be making my LaborForce Line: Embroidered overalls and overall Dresses.
At the moment, I want to explore ready to wear options.

This tapioca starch processing plant was built in 2003 and started with 50 workers. Before the road was built, the plant faced many obstacles in transporting raw materials and final products. Now the plant has 160 workers.

Danilo Garza, 33, a Taiwanese Guava producer and promoter of Water Smart Agriculture ASA works weighing and packing his harvest with a group of workers that this high-yield crop allows him to hire throughout the year. In his plot he implements Fertilization 4r, uses green manures, uses stubble for moisture conservation and organic matter production and does not use herbicides. “If we want a good and sustainable production we need to take care of our soils. If not, what are we going to inherit from our children? I want to leave them a preserved soil so that they can continue the work. This is what I try to convey to other promoters, that we take care of the soil and follow ASA practices ”, he explains.

Dreaming of Amsterdam
At first, I didn’t like the fact that it was so literal. The red and blue stripped dress I made earlier was a nice nod to The Netherlands while being cheeky with the boxer theme. But I Like how it turned out.

People Have asked: “Why do I call my recent Creations the LaborForce Line?" In Truth; I was inspired by my previous life in corporate America: the Basic men’s undershirts, crisp dress shirts, and slacks. Also It was my staff and colleagues. The many innovative people that sacrificed their Personal Time to help me create the best Teams in the industry. However, I realized that 12 years took it’s toll. While I helped others create their own legacy, I may have forgotten my own dreams. Questions around Originality, Individuality, Self Truth; arose. So I took the leap; left a career and started a new one. I don't know where this new life will take me; but the CrazyTruth.....All I can do is Keep my head in the Clouds, take flight, and keep on dreaming.

The "BrasOfSanfran" Petticoat is a White Embroidered Lace from Britex of San Francisco. It has an elastic waist.
This one was my favorite to make. Just because this particular Men’s shirting fabric started the whole inspiration for my LaborForceLine and it’s signature functional overall straps. I love how it works with the new line...LilyHammer. It’s Masculine but soft.
Note: I think this will be the last dress using the Aussie fabric until the Summer.

The Exterior of the Bubble skirt is cream, brown, and green striped Dupioni silk. The silk is embroidered with lovely flowers. The interior of the bubble skirt is lined with a cream cotton Lawn.
A Watermelon red Zipper is inset into the bubble skirt and Along the Empire waist. (OMG...this took forever to figure out. How to inset the zipper and maintain a continuos line of Movement).
